- Provide sign language interpretation during classroom instruction, meetings, and other school-related activities.
- Facilitate munication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their teachers, peers, and other individuals in the school environment.
- Assist with the preparation of instructional materials and resources to support students' learning needs.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to ensure students' educational goals are met.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with students, staff, and families.
- Stay current with best practices and ethical standards in sign language interpretation.
- Bachelor's degree in Sign Language Interpreting, Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field.
- Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent certification/accreditation.
- Valid license or credential to work as a Sign Language Interpreter in the state of Louisiana.
- Previous experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in an educational setting.
- Familiarity with educational terminology and practices.
- Strong interpersonal and munication skills.
- Ability to adapt to the munication needs and preferences of students.
