Armed Patrol Security Officer

Full-Time

$20-22 an hour

Wednesday-Sunday 10pm-6am

Responsibilities:


  • Conduct routine patrols of designated school district premises during overnight hours, including school buildings, parking lots, and surrounding areas, to detect and deter unauthorized access, vandalism, or other security threats.
  • Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems to identify any suspicious activity, intrusions, or potential security breaches, responding promptly and appropriately to address concerns.
  • Enforce school district security policies and procedures, including access control measures, visitor screening protocols, and adherence to designated security zones.
  • Respond swiftly and decisively to security alarms, emergency calls, or reports of disturbances, intervening as necessary to deescalate conflicts, provide assistance, or coordinate emergency response efforts with law enforcement agencies.
  • Collaborate closely with school administrators, campus security personnel, and local law enforcement officials to coordinate patrol routes, share information about security concerns, and implement preventive measures to mitigate risks.
  • Maintain accurate records of patrol activities, security incidents, and observations, documenting details in written reports and logging information into appropriate databases or systems.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of security incidents, collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses, and preparing detailed incident reports to document findings and support followup actions.
  • Provide assistance and support to students, faculty, staff, and visitors during overnight hours, including escorting individuals to designated areas, providing first aid as needed, or offering guidance in emergency situations.
  • Stay informed about relevant laws, regulations, and best practices related to school security, attending training sessions and professional development activities to enhance job knowledge and skills.
  • Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and departmental policies governing the use of firearms and other defensive tactics, prioritizing the safety and wellbeing of all individuals at all times.

Qualifications:


  • Must possess a valid stateissued armed security officer license and maintain any required certifications or permits.
  • Previous experience in law enforcement, military, or securityrelated field, with demonstrated proficiency in firearms handling and use.
  • Strong knowledge of security principles and procedures, including access control, surveillance, and emergency response protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse populations, including students, parents, and community members.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure, with a high degree of situational awareness and problemsolving ability.
  • Flexibility to work overnight shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by the school district's security needs.
  • Must have 2/3 nonlethals (Baton, OC Spray, or Taser)
  • Physical fitness and agility to perform duties requiring prolonged standing, walking, and occasional lifting or carrying of heavy objects.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct in all aspects of the job.
  • Must have a duty belt, body armor, level 3 duty holster, and handcuffs.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience working in a school or educational environment, with knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing school security.
  • Additional certifications or training in emergency medical response, crisis intervention, or conflict resolution techniques.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish or other languages commonly spoken within the community.
  • CPR/AED certification and familiarity with basic first aid procedures.
  • Experience working with children or adolescents in a mentoring, coaching, or counseling capacity.
