    Description

    Overview/ Job Responsibilities

    • Sev1Tech is seeking a Junior Network Engineer to support the enterprise architecture, design, development and deployment of network services in support of DHS networks. The position supports a variety of network technologies such as Cisco routing/switching, Cisco VPN, F5 GTM/LTM load-balancing, Palo Alto firewalls, Broadcom Proxies and others. The ideal candidate will be able to support enterprise solution designs and implementations, core network technology refresh projects, Cloud integration and migration projects, incident ticket troubleshooting and providing inputs for Dept. of Homeland Security network modernization architecture and design efforts.
    • Research and implement enterprise-wide network solutions, capabilities, and enhancements to support customer business/mission goals and objectives, while complying with network architecture and design standards
    • Produce project artifacts such as requirements, design documents, diagrams and other required documentation
    • Troubleshoot network incidents, providing root cause analysis and documenting information in tickets and knowledge repositories
    • Coordinate system maintenance, monitoring, and installation of multiple environments encompassing multiple specializations, platforms, and technologies
    • Troubleshoot and resolve network media and components
    • Develop and maintain a roadmap for capabilities, operations, and technologies
    • Assist with development and execution of test plans and supporting documentation of all network configuration upgrades, additions or revisions for customer approval before implementation
    • Support network traffic analysis and bandwidth optimization efforts to ensure attainment of performance and availability objectives
    • Evaluate and report on new/emerging network/communication technologies to enhance capacity, performance, and reliability of the network
    • Evaluate and recommend changes and/or technology upgrades to address performance, standardization, and industry best practices
    • Follows all Customer network security processes and procedures, ensures compliance with all Government policies
    • Represent customer requirements in technical exchanges with other government agencies
    • Perform site to new installations and technology refresh
    • Develop and maintain network architecture diagrams
    • Contribute to documentation in the Knowledge Base, Standard Operating Procedures, work instructions, and job aids
    • Conduct knowledge transfer sessions with operations and engineering teams on new solutions, systems, applications, and tools
    • Perform additional duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; relevant experience may be a substitute for education
    • Two years of federal IT contracting experience on network and infrastructure programs
    • Four to six years hands-on experience with Cisco routing, switching and technology (e.g., ISR, ASR, CSR, ASA, Nexus, TACACS/ISE)
    • Four to six years working in an environment, strong experience in incident and operations management
    • Strong knowledge of firewalls, load balancers and proxy servers
    • High level architectural and operational experience with complex networks
    • Very strong knowledge of routing protocols and network protocols
    • Strong knowledge of IT security related to networks and applications with solutions to mitigate those issues
    • Must be resourceful in learning a complex and dynamically changing network
    • Must be able to work independently in fast paced, dynamic environment
    • Willing to work nights for network implementations and be a part of the on-call rotation for any network incidents
    • CCNA certification
    • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance

    • Software/Hardware Desired: Palo Alto firewalls, F5 Load Balancers, BlueCoat/Symantec Proxies, SDN/SD-WAN, Cloud, SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, Unix/Linux, Python, Perl, NetScout
