Are you dedicated and passionate about making a positive impact in the community and the lives of others? Are you passionate about law enforcement? We are looking for problem solvers with a desire to effect positive change within our community. The ideal candidate is professional, motivated, and seeking new challenges and opportunities in a thriving community.

The City's next Police Officer is an approachable, resourceful, and driven individual who prioritizes community relations and provides excellent service to the public. The ideal candidate is P.O.S.T. certified or working toward becoming P.O.S.T certified. The Richfield Police Department offers numerous positions outside of patrol such as Investigations, Narcotics Investigator, Violent Offender Task Force, SWAT, Mobile Field Force, K-9, DWI officer, Drug Recognition Expert and Phlebotomist. The Richfield Police Department also offers numerous instructor opportunities including Firearms Instructor, Use of Force Instructor, and Emergency Vehicle Operations Instructor to name a few. Selected candidates will be required to undergo a thorough medical, psychological examination, background investigation and must have a valid Minnesota Driver's License.

Lateral Candidates: The starting pay step of lateral candidates will be negotiable based on the candidate's training and experience. Lateral officers will receive 24 hours of front-loaded vacation time and 24 hours of front-loaded personal leave time.
Patrol Scheduling: Candidates hired as a Police Officer will be assigned to the patrol division throughout field training. This is a great opportunity for new officers to experience our 12-hour patrol shifts (6AM - 6PM and/or 6PM - 6AM). We also have a 12-hour mid-shift (2PM - 2AM). The benefit of these scheduling schemes is that officers have every other weekend off (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday).

Field Training Program: The Richfield Police Department recognizes the importance of previous law enforcement experience. Based on this previous experience, the training academy and field training process will be modified to best reflect this prior experience. In addition, consideration will be given for special assignments previously held such as SWAT, defensive tactics instructor, field training officer and/or any other specialized training.
