General Summary:


The Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Site Manager is responsible for the implementation and administration of the corporate safety program at the job-site/area, trend analysis and all reporting activities.

Ensure the behavior of the crew is in accordance with company safety culture. Understands the lagging and leading safety indicators and promotes a philosophy that achieves established goals. Identification of job site/area specific safety requirements, safety equipment, material procurement, training requirements and tracking of training.


Education and Experience:


  • Previous construction safety experience or commensurate knowledge in Code of Federal Regulations (CFR 1926) required
  • Current OSHA 500 Certification required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Health or related field required
  • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) or Certified Safety and Health Official (CSHO) preferred
  • Some background in Industrial Hygiene highly desirable

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


  • Ability to recognize and correct safetyrelated hazards and targeted safety trends
  • Strong management, leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing
  • Proficient in MS Windows/Office programs
  • Ability to work long hours and travel
  • Working knowledge of construction practices
  • Ability to work as a team member

Essential Functions:


  • Honor your pledge of accepting your safety roles and responsibilities as outlined in the Safety Declaration signed at New Employee
  • Assist in the identification of safety training requirements and investigate training course availability for the job site/area. Manage the training database including the completion of employee safetyrelated training records for the job site/area and the electronic storage of the proof of training on the corporate server drive. Duties include report generation, trend analysis and preparation for retraining/refresher training of employees either inhouse or by a third party. Training duties will at times include conducting new employee orientation, providing site specific orientation, performing forklift evaluations,
  • Duties include job startup safety evaluation, ongoing safety compliance management (including pretask plan audits/site walk
- downs), and job safety close out activities. These duties include the generation and retention of job site/area safety reports and preparation of specific safety documents, as required or

  • Develop/author/conduct/attend safety toolbox meetings at the job sites

Toolbox meetings include:

Discussion of safety-related topics, addressing job site/area specific needs and sharing of information captured on safety observation cards, relaying lessons learned from incidents and near misses, and passing along communications from our customers.

Records of the safety meeting topics are to be

  • The EH&S Site Manager is responsible for compiling and forwarding the records and safetyrelated trend information to the Corporate EH&S Manager for retention and
  • Conduct job site hazards analysis and document in the form of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA), or Integrated Work Document (IWD) in preparation for the performance of work performed and/or managed by company personnel. It may be required to provide documentation to the site owner/customer or the construction management personnel for their review and approval prior to work being performed on the
  • The EH&S Site Manager is responsible for attending all safetyrelated meetings and serves as the contact for customers, employees, and subcontractor safety issues and concerns. In this position, the EH&S Site Manager must maintain a visible presence.
  • Define, procure, disperse, track, inspect and service safetyrelated equipment and ensure proper spending and utilization practices. Maintain onsite documentation of inventory and inspection
  • Responsible for reviewing and forwarding work permits for overtime conditions or nonstandard hours to the Corporate EH&S and/or Area EH&S Manager for entry into the notification/approval process. The EH&S Site Manager will provide safety department visibility and support for nonstandard work and will perform timetracking and fatigue mitigation efforts as the situation
