    Job Title: Communications Manager at Wikimedia Foundation

    Summary:

    The Wikimedia Foundation is looking for a Communications Manager to lead the communications for advocacy and public policy work, as well as various initiatives aimed at advancing and protecting the reputation of the Foundation, Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, and the global Wikimedia volunteer community.

    As the Communications Manager, you will drive impactful media and communications campaigns, particularly in crisis situations, and play a key role in managing the Foundation's reputation. You will develop innovative communication strategies to engage global audiences effectively.

    You are responsible for:
    - Leading proactive communications and media relations efforts extensively.
    - Collaborating closely with Global Advocacy and Legal Affairs teams.
    - Crafting strategic communications plans aligned with organizational goals.
    - Developing key messaging for initiatives and core narratives around Wikimedia projects' impact.
    - Producing various communication materials and ensuring consistent messaging.
    - Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
    - Handling media relations and crisis communications effectively.
    - Managing people and external vendors efficiently.


    Skills and Experience:
    - Minimum of 8 years of experience in communications and media relations.
    - Proficiency in advocacy, policy, and legal communications.
    - Strong crisis management skills and experience in the tech policy sector.
    - Excellent knowledge of global media landscape and journalist relations.
    - Ability to translate complex messages into engaging content effectively.
    - Experience in managing people, working in diverse teams, and leading impactful projects.
