Manufacturing Technician II

Catalent Pharma Solutions in San Diego is currently hiring a Manufacturing Technician I. The Manufacturing Technician I will be responsible for conducting cGMP manufacturing of solid oral and liquid oral pharmaceutical dosage forms for Phase I and Phase II clinical trials. Under the direction of the Manufacturing Supervisor or Team Lead, the Manufacturing Technician will work hands on, in their designated production suite, with a variety of manufacturing production equipment and technologies. Daily responsibilities vary and include production equipment set up, weighing of materials, sieve and blending activities, spray drying, milling, granulation, mixing, roller compaction, submitting samples, encapsulation, tableting, coating and packaging.


This position is 1st shift Monday-Friday with hours of 7:30am-4pm, though

these hours may vary in order to meet the needs of the production schedule.

The Role:


  • Responsible for manufacturing of GMP products, following SOP's, and providing accurate documentation in production batch records:
  • Provides guidance and training for junior operators;
  • Organizes equipment layout and work flows for efficient and safe operations;
  • Independently assembles, operates, and disassembles all basic equipment;
  • Operates automated or semiautomated equipment;
  • Prepares materials and equipment for production;
  • Escalate issues within productions to engineering and production coordinators;
  • Supports equipment turnover, cleaning verification, and validation activities;
  • Strong initiative on the production floor; proactively prepares equipment for upcoming processes, understands the overall flow of equipment;
  • Independently writes production comments and understands how to correctly escalate production related issues to management, engineering and the coordinator group;
  • Other duties as assigned
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required with 1+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or medical device manufacturing.
  • Mechanical and technical aptitude or prior work experience within a regulated environment preferred.
  • Ability to multitask and proactively utilize critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work in a regulated environment (GMP/FDA/DEA/OSHA) and strictly follow procedures.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend reports, technical and cGMP documents as well as correspondence
  • A team player with a positive attitude and able to take initiative
  • Superior attention to detail, safety, quality and customer requirements is critical.

  • Physical requirements: must be able to lift up to 50lbs and walk, stand, or sit for extended periods of time.
