Job Purpose:

We are seeking a seasoned professional who is passionate about building the energy infrastructure of the future.

The Major Permits Specialist will be responsible for helping manage the permitting process for complex, capital projects in New England.

In this role, the Specialist will build, develop, and maintain internal and external relationships with key stakeholders that support the state siting and permitting processes, while fostering best practices that ensure the timely and successful submission of petitions for review before state agencies.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Assist in the preparation of formal petitions before state public utility commissions and state permitting authorities primarily in Vermont, Massachusetts or New Hampshire
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with regulatory staff and key internal/external stakeholders in the New England jurisdiction.
  • Explore opportunities to develop permitting efficiencies.
  • Maintain an understanding of Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts siting procedures, regulations, and orders.
  • Experience with energy facility siting and permitting, preferably at the state level.
  • Familiarity with laws, regulations, and procedures pertaining to energy facility siting.
  • Knowledge of energy regulatory agency processes
  • Familiarity with project management and history of delivering assigned tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills, including the ability to build consensus, and manage expectations of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal presentation and written communication skills, and the ability to write reports and develop presentations for internal and external senior leaders.
  • Valid driver's license with a safe driving history required.

Qualifications:


  • A Bachelor's degree in environmental science, public policy, business, management, finance, law, government, economics, engineering or a related field. Advance degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in the energy industry preferably in environmental regulation, law, project management, siting, permitting, or related field

More Information:

Salary - $138,000 - $162,000
