    JOB SUMMARY:
    The Senior HR Manager - Retention Specialist at Pacific Coast Children's Resources Inc. is instrumental in leading HR operations with a people-first mindset.

    This multifaceted role combines strategic oversight with HR operational excellence, focusing particularly on the well-being and development of our staff, notably those serving children and youth.

    This role is essential in managing daily HR functions, supporting the HR Director's focus on strategic objectives across the organization.


    The ideal candidate will have a special emphasis on integrating Indigenous perspectives and education into our workplace practices, championing inclusivity and understanding.

    This role is instrumental in cultivating an organizational culture deeply rooted in the principles of respect, recognition, and partnership with Indigenous communities, reflecting the identities and values of the people we support.

    Key Duties & Responsibilities:

    People-First Leadership:


    Champion a people-first culture, driving HR initiatives and decisions with a keen awareness of employee well-being, with a special focus on services for children and youth.

    Lead efforts to create a supportive work environment that celebrates Indigenous culture and values, enhancing staff experience and connection.


    Operational HR Management:
    Manage comprehensive HR operations, including talent acquisition, employee relations, compliance, and performance management.
    Enhance HR processes to bolster efficiency and effectiveness, tailored to meet the unique needs of our services for children.

    Employee Relations and Engagement:
    Offer expert guidance on employee relations matters, cultivating a positive and inclusive workplace.

    Develop strategies to bolster employee engagement and retention, with particular consideration for those involved in services for children and youth.

    Indigenous Cultural Integration and

    Policy Development:
    Incorporate Indigenous educational perspectives and cultural competencies into HR policies and practices.

    Update and maintain HR policies to comply with best practices and legal standards, with a lens on Indigenous governance and community relations.


    Strategic Talent Management:


    Spearhead talent management initiatives, including workforce planning, succession planning, and talent development, with a priority on cultural diversity and inclusion.


    Training and Development:


    Oversee training and development programs, ensuring they align with staff needs, including Indigenous cultural safety, health and safety strategic plans, and early intervention strategies.

    Collaborate with facilitators to maintain a training catalogue and calendar, and manage related surveys to guide strategic planning.

    Workplace Safety and Wellness:
    Engage in Work Safe BC claims management and liaison for early intervention.

    Contribute to health and safety strategic plans and serve on the Management Safety Committee, advocating for staff wellness programs that include Indigenous health practices.


    HR Analytics and Reporting:
    Leverage HR metrics and analytics to make informed strategic decisions that support staff well-being and organizational goals.

    Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:


    Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with various stakeholders, including Indigenous communities and educational institutions, to bolster the agency's support systems.


    Qualifications and Skills:


    Advanced degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, with a strong preference for candidates with education or experience in Indigenous community work.

    At least 7 years of progressive HR experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a senior HR role, ideally within an organization focused on children's services.

    Comprehensive knowledge of HR best practices and legal compliance, with an emphasis on Indigenous cultural practices and perspectives.
    Demonstrated leadership and operational management expertise with a commitment to people-first strategies.
    Exceptional communication skills, fostering connections with diverse cultural groups, particularly Indigenous communities.
    Analytical and strategic thinking capabilities, using HR data to drive organizational decision-making.
    Experience in leading transformative change and nurturing a positive workplace culture, especially in child-focused service environments.
    Dedication to cultivating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment, with specific attention to Indigenous representation and well-being.

    Work Environment and Expectations:

    Office Presence:
    This role is based in our main office.

    Travel Requirements:
    Regular travel across British Columbia is required to effectively engage with our teams and community partners. This includes periodic visits to various service locations to support and interact directly with staff and stakeholders.
