    Description
    Position Information


    Performs moderately difficult professional engineering work in the design, construction, maintenance and operation of civil engineering projects; prepares designs, plans, specifications, estimates and reports; and performs other duties as required.

    There are multiple vacancies in various departments in the City and County of Honolulu:


    • One vacancy with the Honolulu Board of Water Supply, Capital Projects Division, Support Branch.
    • Three vacancies with the Department of Environmental Services. Two are with the Environmental Quality Division with telecommuting and alternate schedule opportunities available, and one with the Wastewater Engineering & Construction Division.
    If you qualify for the position, your name will be established to an eligible list. This list may be used to fill current and/or future vacancies in this and/or other departments.

    • Salary is commensurate with applicable experience:$5,340 to $7,226 per month (SR-22), salary includes shortage differential, pending approval and subject to funding availability

    Minimum Qualification Requirements


    At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.


    EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
    Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in an engineering specialty.


    Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States.

    In order to receive credit for the education, a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided.

    We also reserve the right to request further information about your academic program, evidence of comparability, or an original transcript.


    Verification Requirement:
    You must submit evidence of your education in order to be given credit.

    Please attach an electronic copy of your diploma and/or official transcript which shows the embossed seal or applicable FCE to your application.

    EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
    Two years of non-registered professional civil engineering experience.

    Substitution:

    A Master's degree in Civil Engineering from a regionally-accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required professional civil engineering experience.


    Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States.
