Description

Job Mission:


Provides administrative and secretarial support to admissions department staff, including special projects, follow up calls, correspondence, statistics, data compilation and records control.

May perform duties of a sensitive and confidential nature.


Essential Job Functions

  • Uses the computer to prepare statistical reports, tables, and charts.
  • Maintains a schedule for follow up calls to potential students.
  • Maintains records through filing, retrieval, retention, storage, compilation, coding, and updating.
  • Answer incoming calls and make outgoing calls for the department
  • Works as a backup for the receptionist

Scope of Responsibility

Knows the informal and formal department goals, standards, policies and procedures that may include some familiarity of other departments within the school/division.

Is sensitive to the interrelationship of both people and functions within the department.


Decision Making
Carries out duties and responsibilities with limited supervision. Makes decisions and establishes work priorities on essentially procedure-oriented operations.


Authority
Does not direct the activities of staff or a function.


Communication
Exchanges non-routine information using tact and persuasion as appropriate requiring good oral and written communication skills.


Education

Required:
High School Diploma or GED

Preferred:
Two years college or equivalent work experience

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time
  • Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction
  • Communication skills using the spoken word

Qualifications:


  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Minimum of A.A. degree or at least 60 college units or three years of worker's comp administrative experience.
  • Experience in student and academic coordination. Related experience as an academic advisor or counselor
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
