Finance Planning and Analysis Lead

The Finance Planning and Analysis lead is a senior-level role within the university's finance team.

This position is responsible for leading complex financial analysis, strategic planning, and providing expert insights to guide the university's financial decision-making.

The specialist collaborates closely with university leadership and various departments to ensure financial stability, growth, and alignment with institutional objectives.


Responsibilities:


Strategic Financial Planning:

  • Lead the development and execution of longterm financial strategies that align with the university's mission, goals, and growth initiatives.
  • Provide expert insights into financial trends, market conditions, and economic factors that impact the university's financial outlook.

Financial Analysis and Modeling:

  • Conduct sophisticated financial analysis, including scenario modeling, sensitivity analysis, and risk assessment.
  • Analyze complex financial data to provide actionable insights and recommendations for resource allocation and investment decisions.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Oversee the university's budgeting process, collaborating with department heads and senior leaders to ensure accuracy and alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Develop advanced forecasting models to project financial performance and identify potential areas for improvement.

Capital Planning and Investment Analysis:

  • Evaluate capital investment opportunities and major projects, assessing their financial viability and alignment with the university's longterm goals.
  • Perform comprehensive ROI and NPV analyses to support investment decisions.

Financial Reporting and Communication:

  • Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports, analyses, and presentations for university leadership, the Board of Trustees, and other key stakeholders.
  • Clearly communicate complex financial concepts to nonfinancial audiences.

Risk Management and Compliance:

  • Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
  • Contribute to the establishment of financial controls and risk management frameworks.

Collaboration and Leadership:

  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams, serving as a financial expert and providing guidance on financial implications of strategic initiatives.
  • Mentor and guide junior finance professionals, fostering their growth and development.

Process Improvement and Innovation:

  • Identify opportunities to enhance financial processes, data analysis methodologies, and reporting structures.
  • Drive the implementation of innovative solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy in financial planning and analysis.

Qualifications:


  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • Extensive experience in financial planning, analysis, and strategic decision support, preferably in an academic or university setting.
  • Proven expertise in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and advanced data analysis techniques.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to influence and collaborate with senior leadership.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present complex financial information effectively.
  • Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and data visualization tools.
  • Indepth understanding of university financial management practices, higher education regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong ethical standards, attention to detail, and a commitment to accuracy in financial reporting.
