POSITION:
HVRP Employment Coordinator


STATUS:
Full Time Non-Exempt

4-day work week; 32 hour per week


SALARY:
$25.25 Per Hour


PURPOSE


The HVRP Employment Coordinator works as a member of a team to coordinate and assist program participants in obtaining employment and job training.

Works collaboratively with Service Coordinators to ensure that Veterans' employment needs are met and properly integrated with other supportive services.

Networks with Human Resource professionals and prospective employers to establish and maintain relationships. Provides resume building skills, interview preparation, training resources and job opportunities to program participants.


REQUIREMENTS:


  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalency and minimum two years' experience in employment services or related field.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with electronic database systems, HMIS preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Experience working with homeless individuals and families preferred.
  • Experience working with Veteran services preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and writing skills required.
  • Availability to attend events outside of normal business hours when necessary.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Meet with program participants to assess needs related to employment.
  • Assess employment needs and barriers, provide career counseling, and interview skills.
  • Communicate effectively with each program participant's service team to rapidly address employment issues.
  • Engage program participants by maintaining regular contact to monitor progress with employment search.
  • Conduct outreach to maintain relationships with employers and providers of job training and educational services.
  • Streamline hiring process within companies to provide easy access to employment for Veterans.
  • Coordinate services with Vocational Rehabilitation through the VA, and other employment programs to assist Veterans in obtaining skills and jobs.
  • Provide essential workshops, education, and referrals in an effort to prepare veterans for successfully securing and maintaining employment.
  • Develop bank of employers and/or available job opportunities for qualified Veterans.
  • Assist with resume and/or cover letter revision or development.
  • Assist in introduction of program participant to prospective employer, and any coordination or scheduling of interviews.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation and maintenance of participant records in HMIS.
  • Participate in supervision, attend required staff meetings and trainings, and contribute to teambased collaborative planning.
  • Attend job fairs.
  • Schedule biweekly appointments with new employers to solidify contact and relationship.
  • Monitor and maintain warm contacts for existing relationships with employers.
  • Participate in appropriate community outreach collaborations and activities.
  • Track, monitor, and report employment placement rates for all participant veterans on a monthly and quarterly basis.

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Workers are representatives of United Veterans Beacon House and are, therefore, expected to conduct themselves in a way that reflects accountability to the agency, the community, and the client system.
  • Does not abuse sick time or personal days.
  • Consistently reports to work on time and is ready to begin work at the start of the shift.
  • Always provides proper notification when late or absent.
  • Available to work overtime when necessary.
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize priorities in the organization of workflow.
  • Able to perform duties independently, with mínimal need of direct supervision.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of clients, shelter/programs, agency and or United Veterans Beacon House.
  • Reports to work wellgroomed and in compliance with dress code.
  • Wears ID Badge while on duty.
  • Demonstrates the ability to interact in a positive and helpful manner with clients, visitors, contract staff, volunteers, and coworkers.
  • Reflects commitment to building a supportive work environment and maintains a positive attitude at the workplace and towards job.
  • Projects a good image in dealing with the public clients.
  • Is willing to make an extra effort to help build a quality and caring shelter/program.
  • Employees may be required to carry out other duties as assigned.
