Job Summary:


To greet all members and guests in a manner that leaves an extremely positive first impression upon every visit and provide a presence that helps to prevent unauthorized access to the property.


We have 3 shifts available: 6am - 2pm; 2pm - 9pm and 9pm - 6am. Starting pay is $15 and overnight $18.

Essential Functions:


  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
  • Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.
  • Greet Guests.
  • Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
  • Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of property management system and manual procedures.
  • Set up and organize work station with designated supplies, forms and resource materials; report shortages to supervisor.
  • Monitor all incoming and outgoing traffic at the main entrance to the property.
  • Promptly greet every member, employee or guest as they approach the guardhouse in a friendly and professional manner. These interactions should be friendly, but very brief so as not to delay the person from getting to their activity or work.
  • Be prepared to respond to any emergency calls either for use of the AED stored in the guardhouse or to meet emergency units (fire department or EMS) dispatched to Houston Oaks for 911 calls.
  • Start and maintain a fire in the fireplace on all days where the temp outside remains below 65 degrees or whenever requested by owner or management. Note to use paper to create a heat draft that break the cold barrier in the chimney and then slowly build the fire with a few logs first so as not to "shock" the stone and mortar with too much heat while cold. Always alert the grounds crew in advance of running out of firewood. Use a mixture of pinon and oak wood for each fire to ensure the aroma of pinon is present.
  • Learn as many member names and use them when greeting the members as often as possible.
  • Carry a clipboard at all times to write down guest names and any other important messages that may need to be relayed to other staff throughout the day.
  • Never engage in argumentative behavior with a guest. If you don't know whether to let them in or not, immediately contact a manager for assistance or let them in, but take down the make of their vehicle and license number for follow up by management within a few minutes.
  • Respond to member inquiries in friendly, professional manner. Never "wing it" with dispensing information. If you don't know the correct answer, contact someone who does and report back to the inquirer.
  • Maintain the interior and exterior of the guardhouse in clean, organized and litter free condition at all times.
  • Make hourly rounds of the guardhouse and front gate exterior to ensure no litter is visible.
  • Keep guardhouse bathroom in clean and sanitized condition at all times.
  • Promptly report any unusual behavior to management that is observed pertaining to those entering or departing the property and keep notes on the daily log of such activity.
  • Check work schedule weekly and notify Supervisor as far in advance as possible of any scheduling conflicts and no less than 24 hours in advance.
  • Be willing to assist in other areas of the club as requested by management or owners occasionally.
  • Ensure that a sign is posted in the window with gate code in the event that you must be away from your post at any given time.
  • Adhere to dress code guidelines.
  • All duties as assigned by the AGM/CEO and direct Supervisor.
