Description

Examines crime and incident data to evaluate crime history and criminal activity patterns to identify trends for operational deployment, tactical intervention, strategic planning, and management analysis by performing the following duties.

Analyzes and interprets crime data to identify criminal activity patterns and trends.

Charts criminal activity; prepares crime analysis worksheets; and produces/updates computer generated maps on criminal activity based on chronological geographic factors.

Produces daily/weekly analytical reports for dissemination to agency personnel, staff, other law enforcement agencies, and the general public. Prepares and/or presents results of analysis to the Executive Staff as part of the sworn manpower allocation process.
Collects and reviews crime data from incident reports. Verifies information in reports.
Extracts and compiles crime data statistics. Generates descriptive crime statistics. Profiles suspects and vehicles associated with crime trends. Runs NCIC/FCIC inquiries. Provides statistics and related intelligence to agency personnel and outside agencies.
Determines when to assign crime bulletins and what information to release to citizens in areas with increased criminal activity.
Develops and presents instructional presentations on crime analysis related matters for local universities, colleges, and other governmental agencies.
Performs various administrative duties. Maintains control of and follows up on incoming correspondence/action documents. Files and retrieves documentation, reports, and files. Organizes, summarizes, and assembles requested information. Completes, updates, and submits required reports, documents, and forms (e.g., subpoenas, affidavits, and crime bulletins). Maintains confidential files.
Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B.S.) in Criminal Justice, Statistical Analysis, or closely related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience in crime analysis, investigative, and/or intelligence analysis.

Must be able to successfully complete ANACAPA Training Course, Crime Analysis Applications Training Course, and State Certification of Crime Analysts within three (3) years of selection.

Must be able to be FCIC/NCIC certified within one (1) year of employment.
Must maintain certifications listed above once achieved.
Complete the required National Incident Management System (NIMS) training within 6 months of completion of probationary
