- PhD in coastal / ocean engineering or closely related field
- Demonstrated success in publishing peer reviewed journals and other scholarly work

Job Summary
The School of Civil and Construction Engineering invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term Research Associate position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the School Head.
The research associate will support research in the School of Civil and Construction Engineering with focus in the Coastal and Ocean Engineering Discipline. The research associate will lead numerical modeling studies of coastal hydrodynamic processes in the Pacific Northwest. The research associate will collaborate with other researchers and graduate students involved in field measurements of coastal processes in the Pacific Northwest. The research associate will also be responsible for the organization and management of datasets and files related to the project. The research associate will help develop and maintain open-source and open-science practices regarding model codes and derived products from this project. The research associate will contribute to collegiality within the School and the College of Engineering and will contribute to a culture of safety and responsibility.

Key Responsibilities
40% - Develop and carry out process-based numerical studies of coastal hydrodynamics using a variety of community models
40% - Develop, test, and refine statistical meta-models of coastal hydrodynamic processes
5% - Mentoring and training of graduate students
5% - Develop and maintain processes related to code-versioning and documentation of project workflows
10% - Prepare written and oral project results (peer-reviewed journal papers, conference presentations)
What You Will Need
The incumbent will typically have flexibility in their specific working hours ,but is expected to be available during normal business hours for meetings and discussions related to projects. The candidate will periodically travel to conferences and scientific meetings.
