Description

CASA (Children's After School Arts) is a nonprofit, arts-based after school program with an emphasis on social justice and social emotional wellness, located at Rooftop School in San Francisco.

We serve TK-8th graders.

CASA is seeking a warm, compassionate, patient & organized individual with experience providing support services to elementary school youth.


Wellness Counselor General Duties
The CASA Health & Wellness Counselor job duties include, but are not limited to the following:

Health and Wellness Resource to CASA community

  • Consult with CASA teachers to provide alternative coping strategies, support, resources, and appropriate psychoeducation
  • Consult with CASA parents and guardians to provide strategies, support, resources, and appropriate psychoeducation regarding the socialemotional wellbeing of their children
  • Consult and collaborate with school faculty/administration regarding student health and wellness needs

Provide Emotional Health Support Services and Resources to CASA Students

  • Oversee the CASA Wellness Center
  • Provide individual therapeutic support for students who have been referred or have requested services
  • Support/Empowerment Groups on a wide variety of topics open to various age groups
  • Walkin services for kindergarten through fifth graders including deescalation, crisis intervention, emotional regulation, etc.

Conflict Resolution, Positive Discipline and Restorative Practices

  • Promote effective conflict resolution amongst students through implementation of restorative practices
  • Guide CASA teachers in restorative conflict resolution with students and other CASA community members
  • Offer staff psychoeducation and consultation regarding restorative practices and corrective behavioral techniques

Communication and Collaboration

  • Regular checkins and consultation with CASA administrators and teachers
  • Offer wellness related professional development to CASA staff
  • Establish systems of communication and collaboration with school site therapists and social workers
  • Attend SSTs, IEPs and conduct classroom observations as appropriate
  • Ongoing communication and consultation with parents/guardians

Partnerships

  • Build partnerships with local accredited graduate MFT and MSW programs to build traineeship opportunities to serve students
  • Build partnerships with other wellness related organizations to serve students during CASA hours on campus
  • Research and maintain list of potential outside providers for student referral purposes

Administrative Duties

  • Produce and maintain required records and notes for all students served; including but not limited to consent forms, progress/process notes on sessions, CPS reports, etc
  • Attend weekly CASA admin meeting
  • Attend monthly CASA staff meetings

Safety

  • Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all students
  • Following the safety guidelines outlined in CASA's Safety Manual
  • Complete and file CPS reports and incident and injury reports as needed
  • Engage with appropriate confidentiality, noting the lines of mandated reporting and informed consent
  • Complying with all FERPA and HIPAA laws

Pay:
$60, $70,000.00 per year
