- Extensive experience as a Controls Engineer in an automotive assembly plant manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in programming Allen-Bradley (Rockwell) PLC5's and ControlLogix.
- Familiarity with programming Allen-Bradley PanelView HMIs.
- Experience with Industrial Ethernet communications.
- Ability to write documentation and training material.
- Skills in preparing wiring diagrams and other drawings in AutoCAD.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of SmartEye vehicle identification technology.
- Familiarity with SICK barcode scanners.
- Knowledge of Adaptive displays.
- Experience with DeviceWise is a bonus.
- Comfortable interacting with individuals at various levels, from hourly operators to plant management.
- Self-driven and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Effective team player.
- Willingness to travel as needed to support New Model Program launch schedules.
- Physically able to work on the plant floor for extended periods.
- Legal authorization to work in U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
- Comfortable leading others and potentially overseeing third-party controls integrator resources.

Apex Systems is in search for a Controls Engineer to join one of our top clients in the Detroit, MI area. This role offers a long-term open-ended contract with a Monday-Friday first shift schedule.
Candidates will have the opportunity to travel at least once a month to various client locations across the US and Mexico.
Position Description:
We are looking for a skilled AVS-IPI Controls Engineer to make a key contribution to the implementation of the Next Generation Automated Vehicle Scheduling (NGAVS) system at our clients' North American vehicle assembly plants. As an NGAVS In-Plant Implementation (IPI) Controls Engineer, you will be tasked with integrating NGAVS with the Vehicle Operations tooling and process control systems. This involves collaborating with vendor controls engineers to install, test, and debug standard NGAVS logic and drivers. While most NGAVS PLC code modules are standardized, there may be instances where custom code needs to be developed for plant-specific situations or adjustments to standard templates and AOIs to address identified issues by the third-party integrator. Additionally, maintaining PLC Code for Allen-Bradley ControlLogix utilizing Rockwell RS5000 software and creating/maintaining HMI code (Allen-Bradley PanelViews) will be part of your responsibilities. Assignments may take place at any of our clients' Vehicle Assembly Plants in North America (U.S., Canada, and Mexico).
