Class Summary

  • The Vice President for Institutional Advancement/Executive Director of COM Foundation reports directly to the College President. The VP will serve as a senior leadership team member and an active participant in establishing the infrastructure and overall planning, development, and management of the college's relationships with individual donors and organizations, as well as leaders and community influencers. In collaboration with college and foundation board leadership, the VP will plan, organize and implement programs to continue and expand the success of resource development initiatives, including, but not limited to donor relations, alumni development, annual campaigns, major and planned gifts, foundation and corporate gifts, state and federal funding and stewardship.

    Minimum Education/Training/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of a threeyear career track of accomplishments in driving impact, outcomes and success. Advanced knowledge of fundraising principles and practices, capacity to provide visionary leadership for fundraising efforts and oversee the progressive growth of an alumni giving and major donor development program.

Job Duties

  • Build a comprehensive program to raise everincreasing funds in support of key college priorities.
  • Create and carry a personal portfolio of principal gift prospects.
  • Establish and administer policies and procedures that maintain the highest level of stewardship in overseeing the investments and use of gifts.
  • Participate in/facilitate the development of goals and objectives for the Foundation by advising and making recommendations to the President and Foundation Board of Directors. Direct the goals' implementation, monitor their progress and evaluate results.
  • Facilitate the recruitment and orientation of new board members, using coaching and mentoring skills to develop fundraising and donor relationship skill sets among board members.
  • In collaboration with the Foundation Board, the VP will support all aspects of development activities, cultivation of key relationships, and be responsible for overall planning, development, and management of COM Foundation's relationships with individual donors and organizations.
  • Oversee all financial responsibilities and fiduciary management of Foundation assets, and manage the budget of the Foundation.
  • Develop and implement a yearround donor stewardship and cultivation plan for all donors.
  • Oversee annual campaigns, accounting of all Foundation resources, and annual foundation scholarship distribution.
  • Supervise employees including prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained.
  • Insure the accuracy of the comprehensive database reporting and tracking system for donors, and scholarships.
  • Monitor institutional grant submissions, awards and compliance.
  • Identify and develop corporate and college partnerships for major grant initiatives and campaigns.
  • Maintain relationships with chambers, service organizations, city, county and state officials.
  • Represent the college as a member of organizations as appropriate and attend offcampus events, which may involve evenings and/or weekends.

Physical Requirements

  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk. Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. Must be willing to travel for professional development.
