    The Los Angeles County Fire Department's Administrative Services Bureau is seeking a Senior Network Systems Administrator for their Information Management Division.

    Essential Job Functions

    Duties:
    • Administers advanced network and server management tasks, including system configuration, installation, repair, maintenance, and upgrades of hardware and software.
    • Implements, personalizes, sets up, diagnoses, tests, and enhances a range of network software and infrastructure from moderate to high complexity.
    • Develops and deploys comprehensive network security strategies, incorporating user role definitions, group policies, trust hierarchies, permission settings, and directory services.
    • Executes VLAN configurations to facilitate the delivery of IP-based services such as audio, video, and data communications.
    • Monitors network resource usage and devises strategic solutions to address issues, ensuring uninterrupted access to all networked applications.
    • Identifies and advocates for necessary modifications to the network infrastructure to elevate performance, stability, and service availability.
    • Formulates and suggests network management protocols, including the distribution of resources across centralized, decentralized, and remote network services.
    • Oversees the planning and execution of hardware enhancements for network servers, gateways, and related communication equipment.
    • Resolves complex network challenges using sophisticated network management tools.
    • Maintains network security in accordance with organizational policies, documenting all information security procedures.
    • Engages in the selection, creation, and implementation of robust backup and recovery frameworks.
    • Manages the tracking of network assets.
    • May oversee the design and upkeep of intricate network structures, including hubs, routers, and the overall physical network.
    • May perform analytical studies and engage in the planning process for the deployment of new applications.
    • May support data center strategic planning through detailed analysis.
    • May offer comprehensive support during information security incidents, including policy breaches, cyber threats, malware infections, and unauthorized system access.
    • May conduct thorough evaluations of network and server hardware and software, considering potential upgrades, updates, patches, and service packs.
    • May coordinate and lead a network support team.
    Desirable Qualifications:
    • Demonstrated experience in providing end-to-end support for complex network and server operating system environments.
    • Proficient in the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of sophisticated network infrastructures.
    • Skilled in developing and executing disaster recovery plans and performing capacity planning to ensure network resilience and efficiency.
    • In-depth knowledge of network security protocols, with the ability to configure complex server and network setups to safeguard information.
    • Extensive experience in network administration, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining network systems for optimal performance.
    • Ability to provide technical guidance to other Information Technology professionals, with a track record of leading by example in a senior network systems role.
    • Possesses a broad understanding of computer networking principles, tools, and terminology, as well as network monitoring tools and protocols.
    • Capable of managing network functions such as e-mail, file, and print services, and ensuring the smooth operation of routers, firewalls, and related network services.
    • Demonstrated ability to make informed decisions based on established procedures and protocols.
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Capable of working autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment.
    • Exceptional problem-solving, organizational, and leadership capabilities.

    Benefit Information: Depending on the position, the successful candidate will enroll in a contributory defined benefit pension plan if the candidate is a "new member" of the County's defined benefit plan (LACERA) on or after January 1, 2013 (first employed by the County on or after December 1, unless she or he established reciprocity with another public retirement system in which she or he was a member before January 1, 2013. It should be noted that County employees do not pay into Social Security, but do pay the Medical Hospital Insurance Tax portion of Social Security at a rate of 1.45%. The Los Angeles County Employees Retirement Association (LACERA) has reciprocal agreements with several public retirement systems in California.
