Description
Training as a Nursing Specialist

Starting on [date], the training for elderly care, health care and pediatric care will be combined into a generalized nursing training program.

Hospitals, nursing homes and home care services are potential providers for practical training. Other areas of nursing will be covered through mandatory internships during the training.

Training Process

The training to become a state-recognized nursing specialist lasts three years and includes at least 2400 hours of instruction. It ends with a state exam, consisting of practical, written and oral components.

During the training, theory and practice alternate in multi-week blocks. Instruction is provided through learning situations, which structure the lessons as thematic units and represent professional situations for a nursing specialist.

Key Topics of the Training

Independently and individually plan, carry out and evaluate nursing and health-promoting measures

Advise, educate and guide care recipients of all ages and their families

Collaborate with a team and other professions

Handle difficult situations in a professional manner

Participate in therapeutic and diagnostic measures

Learning situations allow for the exploration of professional problem situations and action-oriented problem-solving processes. In addition, there are cross-cutting learning areas such as German/communication, English/communication, politics and religion.
