Join Valley Metro as the
Manager, Fare Programs.

You will oversee a team responsible for the efficient and effective administration of regional fare policies and programs for Valley Metro.

Collaborating with regional transit partners, vendors, consultants, regional customers, and staff, you will manage the implementation of regional fare program and maintain the fare administration web portal.

Leading strategic initiatives related to fare management, coordinating fare system issues, and evaluating potential fare changes, you will provide recommendations to executive leadership.

The Manager, Fare Programs will build and develop collaborative partnerships, playing a crucial part in ensuring seamless fare operations and enhancing the overall transit experience for our customers.

The Manager, Fare Programs is an exempt (salaried) position.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements:


Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Public Administration, or a closely related field related AND
five (5) years progressively responsible professional experience in public transit revenue management,
OR, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position may be considered.


Desired Qualification:

Supervisory experience.


Background Investigation:

Licenses and Certifications:


Must hold and maintain a valid Arizona state-issued driver's license at time of hire and ability to maintain continued insurability.

Supervises employees to include prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff training and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.


Develops and implements goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards for the Fare Programs team to administer regional fare policy efficiently and effectively and fare programs and deliver excellent customer service.


Manages the implementation of regional transit fare programs and the retail network, collaborating with staff from various divisions and departments, regional transit partners, and vendors.

Lead fare related strategic initiatives from project initiation to implementation.

Administers the fare programs web portal, including access rights and approving new organizational customers.

Monitors and updates agreements pertaining to regional fare administration and programs.

Coordinates fare vending machine (FVM) issues with the Maintenance division.

Coordinates fare system issues with agency staff, regional transit partners, consultants, and vendors.

Coordinates and collaborates with regional transit partners to evaluate potential fare changes and makes recommendations to executive leadership team.

Performs fare tariff administration, including implementation of fare policy changes and updates to Agency fare products and programs.

Performs contract management for various fare system vendors.

Performs program management for future fare system features and new programs.

Collaborates with Marketing on fare programs promotion to grow participation in fare programs.

Develops and manages the Fare Programs budget, including department expenditures and revenues for all regional fare programs.

Manages overall user access control and administration of the fare system and various subsystems.

Collaborates with Marketing and IT to manage content for fares website and mobile app.

Provides web portal training and/or training support for organizational customers participating in the various fare programs.

Manage complex and politically sensitive customer inquiries and escalations.

Performs other duties of similar nature as assigned.
