Position Overview

We are currently looking to add a dynamic Civil Engineer to our passionate team of Transportation Engineering professionals. Responsibilities will include the design of roadway engineering projects involving geometric, hydraulic, pavement, intersection, lighting, and traffic design.

Assist in preliminary engineering with conceptual and preliminary design.
Assist in the planning and design of roadway engineering projects involving geometric, hydraulic, pavement, intersection, lighting, and traffic design. Strong understanding of ODOT and local regulations.
Preparation of design calculations per local, state, and federal regulations.
Preparation of Maintenance of Traffic and Traffic Control plans and specifications.
Preparation of contract documents including project specifications and quantity/ cost estimates.
Assist in managing projects through local, county, state, and federal permitting and compliance with other regulatory requirements.

Competencies

1. Problem Solving/Analysis.

Ability to make independent decisions based on sound engineering judgment and experience.
Ability to apply knowledge to a variety of assignments.

2. Technical Capacity.

Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Experienced/Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer is a plus.
Experience with stormwater regulations and practices
Non-complex roadway design experience. Complex roadway design is a plus.

3. Communication Proficiency.

Ability to guide junior-level staff on objectives, critical issues, and concepts.
Ability to interact with internal staff, reviewing agencies and customers as needed on project-related issues.

4. Collaboration Skills.

Will consult with superiors on unique, unusual problems and developments
As experience expands, the role may collaborate on new or improved techniques and procedures on complex projects and assignments.

Duties

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week. Hours can be flexible based on circumstances. There may be a requirement for overtime based on workload.
Travel

No overnight travel is anticipated for this position. Some occasional local day travel may be necessary.
Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.
Minimum 3 years of roadway design experience
Understanding and implementation experience of ODOT and/or local standards
AutoCAD Civil 3D experience required
MicroStation and OpenRoads Design experience preferred
Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification, is required. (PE) Certification is preferred.
