Job Description:


The Faculty Appointment Specialist (FAS) serves as a key member of the Faculty Administrative team within the Office of the Dean of the Faculty (DOF).

The position is responsible for creating and processing a high volume of faculty appointment letters and related compensation activities.

The incumbent must develop a strong understanding of appointment criteria and is responsible for tracking timelines and information to coordinate the workflow required for review and approval.


The incumbent must be committed to developing an in-depth understanding of faculty human resources policy and compliance, produce reports and spreadsheets, and perform ad hoc reviews and analyses, both detailed and summary, including the compilation and distillation of data on contractual commitments and faculty research funds.

This position interacts regularly with university constituents, is responsible for preparing written communications and reports, and must gain a strong understanding of Workday's Human Capital Management business processes.

The incumbent is involved with workflow improvements and participates in project planning.

The incumbent will foster collaborative working relationships and play a critical role in faculty-related services and operations.


Education and Experience- Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of 2 years of related experience or equivalent- combination of education and experience.- Highly effective verbal and written communication skills.

Strong written and verbal skills to produce reports, assign tasks, and accept instructions.- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office or Google Suites) with a strong aptitude for learning new systems.

Must be proficient in working with spreadsheets.- Strong organizational and time-management skills - meticulous attention to detail critical and required.- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a complex and diverse community.- Strong problem-solving skills- Attention to detail to ensure tasks are completed thoroughly and correctly.- Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy.- Demonstrated capacity to work both collaboratively and independently, to exercise sound judgment, and to handle sensitive and confidential matters.- A capacity to embrace change and identify creative and innovative solutions. Independent ability to plan, implement, and manage assigned projects.- Demonstrated commitment to supporting a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
