Director, Sustainable Construction


Job Description:


HITT is seeking a Director of Sustainable Construction, to provide day to day oversight of HITT's Sustainable Construction team, holding a pivotal role in ensuring that HITT as business, as well as all HITT projects align with environmental, social, and economic sustainability principles.


  • Responsibilities
  • Direct oversight of HITT's Sustainability Managers and Associates who manage the daytoday tasks of project certification. The Director will provide guidance and leadership to their team to ensure that HITT maintains an industry leading Sustainability Department.
  • Developing and implementing sustainable strategies, educating others on sustainable construction program requirements, and best practices for successful project execution.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant sustainability regulations, codes, and standards set by local authorities, industry bodies, and certification programs.
  • Leading the Sustainability team in collecting, aggregating, and presenting relevant sustainability data and trends to assist in the decision making of HITT leadership.
  • Leading internal committees to develop programs to support HITT's sustainability culture and vision.
  • Taking a leadership role in identifying best practices in our processes for managing the supply chain and material sourcing, as well as reducing waste generation throughout the construction process.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with all relevant regulatory agencies, industry groups and committees to ensure HITT is at the leading edge of sustainability and compliance.
  • Engage, develop, and manage relationships with sustainabilityfocused subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, manufacturers, designers, and clients to advance common goals.
  • Collaborating at a national level with HITT's business units in pursuits, ensuring HITT is top of mind with clients who are navigating increasing sustainability requirements.
  • Oversee, track, and ensure timely completion of yearly corporate sustainability goals.
  • Qualifications
  • Current LEED AP BD&C or ID&C accreditation years of experience in the construction industry, with a significant portion of that time leading sustainable construction practices.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of LEED v4 and v5, WELL, LBC, Net Zero Energy, and other thirdparty green building rating systems.
  • Experience developing and implementing sustainable strategies to minimize environmental impact, maximize resource efficiency, and promoting social responsibility. As well as having the confidence and communication skills to present these strategies to all stakeholders including HITT leadership and clients.
  • Outside the box thinking, constantly raising the bar of operating a sustainable business, and ensuring sustainable certification of projects for our clients and communities.
  • High level of selfawareness and a humble and approachable leader, always with a focus for continuous personal, team, and company growth.
  • Agility and ability to embrace change, a quick learner and adopter of new processes and technology.
  • Organizational skills and ability to manage and track detailed data and documentation.
  • Responsiveness, accountability, and strong followup practices.
