    GENERAL SUMMARY

    The Radiological Support Supervisor assists in the direction and management of Radiation Protection activities to ensure the radiological health and safety of plant personnel and the public as well as implement the ALARA Program at Columbia Generating Station. Serve as primary delegate for the Radiological Services Manager. Major responsibilities include: internal and external dosimetry, radiological instrument calibration, respiratory protection, Passport Total Exposure System administration, radiation protection procedure development, records management and FSAR maintenance. Represent Energy Northwest Radiation Protection during audits, inspections, and at professional meetings/conferences.
    This position will lead and manage projects and personnel in the areas of Radiological Operations and Radiological planning, as assigned. Additionally, Major responsibilities include: representing Radiological Services on the Senior Site ALARA Committee, routine and outage radiological work planning, preparing and reporting dose estimates and budgets, leading Energy Northwest's ALARA and exposure reduction efforts, coordination of station radiation shielding and flushing programs.

    PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

    Supervise activities of the Radiological Support group. Act with full authority of the Radiological Services Manager in his or her absence or periods of unavailability, as directed. Serve as an alternate member of the Plant Operating Committee and other station committees, as assigned.

    Assist in development of departmental vision, goals, and performance expectations to promote continuous improvement in teamwork, quality, and productivity. Provide guidance to supervisors and staff in conducting performance evaluations, demonstrating leadership skills and core values. Resolve personnel problems.

    Assist in management, development, and implementation of station and departmental programs, processes, and procedures in order to ensure radiological safety. Supervise all activities associated with internal and external dosimetry, portable radiological instrument calibration, development and implementation of the Total Exposure System module of Passport, administration of the respiratory protection program and Radiological Services procedure and FSAR maintenance and development. Interface with other station and corporate organizations, and with offsite agencies in order to ensure station programs, procedures, and activities promote radiological safety. Ensure the radiation protection program complies with all applicable codes, standards, and regulations.

    Lead station in dose reduction initiatives and source term reduction actions by active participation in work scheduling and planning to ensure ALARA implementation and use of an ALARA Suggestion and ALARA Recognitions Programs. Serve as utility representative for BWR owners group Radiation Protection ALARA Committee

    Supervise activities of the Radiological Planning professionals and HP Technicians through the following:

    • Provide technical oversight for all activities associated with radiological work planning for both routine and outage situations, including: RWP preparation and review, dose estimation, work scheduling, and planning how work is conducted. Lead the station in the area of outage planning in support of radiological work. Ensure key milestones are maintained and outage schedule and durations meet corporate and region needs.
    • Develop and implement a strategic, systematic plan for ownership of dose reduction across all station organizations, including facilitating the Senior Site ALARA Committee. Develop and maintain station annual and outage dose goals, including trending, reporting, and analysis.
    Monitor organizational performance against commitments, regulatory requirements, and expectations. Identify problems and recommend and implement actions to ensure continuous improvement through the corrective action program. Monitor performance of training programs to ensure that they effectively maintain skills and improve performance with respect to the radiation protection program. Conduct and/or participate in Radiological Services Self-Assessments.

    Ensure departmental activities make efficient use of resources, and are maintained within budget limitations. Assist in preparation and monitoring of financial budgets.

    This individual must participate on the Emergency Response team (ERO) when designated with a focus on an RP related ERO position.
    This individual must support the biennial refueling outage with a primary role in RP Supervision and may include support to the OCC.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in Health Physics or related science/engineering field and six years professional experience in radiation protection;

    OR
    Associate of Science degree from an accredited college or university in a technical field and eight years of experience in radiation protection;

    OR
    High School Diploma and ten years professional experience in radiation protection;

    OR
    Six years navy nuclear experience and an additional four years professional experience in a nuclear power facility in Radiation Protection.

    Pay Range
    $124, $186,764.00 Annual
    Midpoint:
    $155,637.00

    Typically, selected candidates are hired between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience and qualifications, market rate, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.

    Offers will be negotiated based on each candidate's qualifications.

    Incentive Compensation

    This role may be eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan. Incentives are earned based on employee performance against defined metrics and company goals.
