Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the coordination of all nursing inservices and CE classes, including, room set up, vendor payment, catering, setup and clean up.
  • Coordinates the Basic Life Support program, including scheduling of classes, upkeep of instructor and course files, issuance of CPR cards and ensuring AHA guidelines are followed in reference to all documentation kept onsite.
  • Provides administrative support to the department, including maintenance of files, ordering of supplies, preparation of minutes and accurate reports.
  • Assists with coordination of the Schools of Nursing programs, including correspondence with instructors and nurse managers related to preceptors and unit assignments, preparation of orientation materials.
  • Schedules and coordinates an 8 hour orientation program for all new CNAs in the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) that meets all regulatory requirements.
  • Completes an Orientation Skills Return Demonstration Checklist on all new CNAs to demonstrate competency to perform direct patient care.
  • Schedules and delivers at least 24 hours of CAN inservice education annually.
  • Evaluates inservice training to develop programs that enhance CNA patient care skills, and address identified knowledge deficits, special needs of residents and areas of deficiency from state survey.
  • Evaluates learner performance by a variety of methods, such as posttest, feedback from supervisors on clinical performance, return demonstration, observation and/or learner self evaluations.
  • Maintains files and records as required by the Board of Registered Nursing and the Department of Health Services for all continuing education classes provided by the facility.
  • Participates in the SNF Quality Assurance meetings, Infection Control Committee and Safety Committee.
  • Works effectively with the Nurse Managers in developing unit based programs.
  • Assists in developing and implementing Standards of Care.
  • Incorporates quality assurance findings in program planning.
  • Utilizes current literature supported content in educational programs and clinical based teaching.
  • Determines and meets deadlines for completion of project.
  • When requested, participates in and/or manages house wide projects effectively.
  • Fosters a spirit of teamwork by offering to assist other members of department as needed; e.g., coverage, class setup, proofing.
  • Discusses with Director: program plans including goals, resources and methods of implementation, possible constraints and other special considerations prior to program development.
  • Informs Director of progress, particularly as problems arise and seeks direction as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirement:


  • Five years progressive experience in area of Surgical Services including: needs assessment coordination planning implementation teaching and evaluation
  • Experience in management of projects and adult learners to include: curriculum development evaluation of personnel and interpretation and utilization of evidence based practice
  • Three years experience working as a perioperative registered nurse
  • Master's degree in Nursing
  • RN:CA; CNOR; BLS-CPR; ACLS

Pay Range
$ $91.72 /hour
