We are seeking aFamily Assessment Worker in the Healthy Families program. Healthy Families is a free, voluntary, child abuse/neglect prevention program that helps parents meet the challenges of parenting.
The program is offered to families who are expecting a new baby or have a baby who is less than 90 days old.
Services can continue for up to five years after the birth of the child.
The Family Assessment Worker provides screening and assessments to pregnant women and families with newborns who have been identified as having risk factors for child abuse and neglect.
This position involves both connecting with families, primarily in a hospital-based setting, as well as providing community outreach to cultivate strategic partnerships with a variety of organizations and agencies that serve families.
Primary duties:
- Establish trusting relationships with families; in consideration of families' personal experiences and diverse cultural backgrounds
- Promote community awareness regarding Healthy Families program services
- Develop positive relationships with community providers in order to secure referrals and provide support to families
- Engage in face to face contact with community partners to provide presentations
- Compose accurate and complete indepth assessments, program intake forms, and data tracking regarding the status of screening/assessment activity, within appropriate timelines
- Provide comprehensive data, recordingkeeping and reporting of community outreach efforts
Qualifications:
- Associates degree with experience in early childhood (such as: home visitation, child welfare, prevention, child development, family dynamics) OR Bachelors degree in related area
- Knowledge of child welfare, Department of Child Safety and related governing laws such as reporting procedures and legal obligation to report incidents of suspected child abuse and/or neglect is preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish fluency is required.
- Strong communication and writing skills
- Familiarity with social media platforms
- Knowledge of family dynamics and community resources is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows
- Valid Arizona Driver's license, registered vehicle and auto insurance is required.
- Valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card OR must qualify for a valid Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
