- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all cash accounts held by St. Ambrose and related affordable housing properties
- Analyze budgets and create expense reports
- Examine tax policies and handle tax payments and returns
- Provides external auditors with assistance; prepare documents and gathers all necessary information for all annual audits of financial statements
- Post transactions and categorize records in the general ledger (e.g. by assets, liabilities and expenses)
- Assist with the preparation of ad-hoc reports for third parties as needed including but not limited to HUD, Housing Authority, and Insurance Agency
- 5+ years of similar experience as a Staff Accountant or a similar, relevant role in accounting
- Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
- BA/BS preferred; MSc a plus
- Residential property management accounting experience a plus

Job DescriptionOverview:
The Staff Accountant supports the work of the Finance Department by managing daily accounting tasks, preparing and reviewing financial documents, reports, and statements. Maintains balance sheet ledgers and manages bank reconciliations. Oversees all accounting procedures (e.g., tax returns, month-end closures, budgeting) and maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices, plays a key role in assisting with preparation for organizational audits, and advises on general financial matters.
