How you make a difference:
The Residential Services Coordinator (RSC) is an entry-level position responsible for providing direct care to a specific patient population under the direction and supervision of treatment personnel at the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of safety assignments throughout the facility, controlling ingress and egress points for staff and patients, and actively engage with patients to monitor their wellbeing while implementing individual deescalation strategies and safety plans.
- Contribute to treatment plans by providing input into goals and objectives developed by the treatment team, performing regular rounds, wellness checks, and monitoring medication distribution, ensuring a safe and secure environment for all patients.
- Monitor and track environmental concerns through inspections of equipment, systems, and physical structures, addressing emergency responses alongside clinical and medical team members to ensure patient safety and employing verbal deescalation techniques to modify disruptive behaviors.
- Maintain a proactive role in observing patients, providing deescalation and redirection as needed, and actively participating in creating a safe and therapeutic environment through a focus on verbal guidance and communication rather than physical force whenever possible.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be at least 19 years of age.
- Prior work experience with psychiatric patients in a hospital or secure mental health setting preferred, with a focus on patient safety.
- Must be willing to participate in extensive, ongoing training regarding serious mental illness, deescalation and intervention techniques, core strategies, patient safety and traumainformed care.
