Duties

:


  • Develops and implements systems diagnostic and maintenance tools to ensure the availability and functionality of systems required.
  • Develops standards and criteria for assessing server performance, availability, and capacity or configuration problems.
  • Develops procedures for responding to new threats to systems to ensure confidentiality, integrity and availability.
  • Checks key files for problems and reviews operations to ensure only valid processes are running.
  • Reallocates resources as they become available, optimizes systems performance and recommends additional components to improve overall performance.
  • Evaluates and recommends selection of new systems diagnostic tools.
  • Manages the installation of software and hardware, systems fixes, updates and enhancements and installs, configures and tests software on workstations.

Qualifying Experience

:

To qualify at the GG-12, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position.

Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Experience installing, managing, testing, troubleshooting, documenting, and maintaining servers running Unix and Red Hat Linux in both physical and virtual operating environments and project management principles sufficient to maintain, plan and coordinate the installation of new products or equipment.

qualifying experienceat the GG-12 grade level.
