Responsibilities:


  • Oversee a team of security guards, ensuring they are following protocols and procedures, providing guidance and support as needed, addressing any issues within the team.
  • Monitor building conditions and alarm systems such as gas, fire, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning to ensure they are functioning properly and respond promptly to any alarms or abnormalities.
  • Report unusual occurrences as required by post orders, including incidents, breaches, or suspicious activities.
  • Conduct routine and random patrols throughout the site, including all building entrances, exits, indoor common areas, and corridors, varying routes to avoid establishing patterns.
  • Receive training in responding to fire or emergency situations and deescalation techniques to effectively handle crises.
  • Detect and deter trespassers or unauthorized individuals attempting to gain access to designated spaces.
  • Monitor persons entering the building, verifying authorization and enforcing screening procedures to detect prohibited items such as weapons or contraband.
  • Monitor surveillance systems and cameras, promptly reporting any suspicious activities or incidents captured on camera.
  • Provide support to facility staff in defusing tense situations or conflicts among shelter residents.
  • Collaborate with shelter staff, maintaining regular communication and cooperation to ensure the safety and security of the premises.
  • Coordinate with the Facility Supervisor and local authorities regarding specific security concerns, and complete necessary incident reporting as outlined and approved by the State of Massachusetts.

Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in security or law enforcement, Leadership a plus.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
  • Familiarity with emergency response procedures and protocols.
  • Physical fitness and ability to perform patrols and respond quickly to incidents.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to security operations.
  • Experience or familiarity with Haitian Creolespeaking communities and cultures preferred.
