We are looking for a competent full-time
Account Manager for our Houston Service Center.

The Account Manager works with an assigned customer base and holds primary responsibility for all aspects of account management, client relations and sales to those accounts.

The Account Manager coordinates with outside sales representatives, warehouse personnel, purchasing personnel, credit personnel and management to maximize customer satisfaction, delivery excellence, sales volume and profitability.

Development of strong customer relationships is a key aspect of this position. You should have excellent communication and negotiation skills, as well as an ability to work independently.

Daily duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Operates as the lead point of contact for any and all matters specific to assigned customer base.
  • Establishes and cultivates strong, longlasting relationships with customers.
  • Learns specific customer needs and expectations and earns their trust and continued business.
  • Ensures service and delivery excellence with every order.
  • Stays uptodate with industry trends. Discusses market information and trends with customers and obtains competitive information from customers.
  • Coordinates sales efforts and account maintenance activities with Outside Sales Reps. Partners with Outside Sales Reps concerning pending quotations and other market related information.
  • Owns the full sales cycle from prospecting to pricing, closing, logistics and delivery.
  • Prepares and delivers quotes this entails checking stock, pricing, sourcing material at the mill level, obtaining freight rates (if necessary) and following up with the customer.
  • Makes discretionary pricing decisions based on customerspecific and market/industry conditions.
  • Sources customer steel requirements from inventory, mills, other service centers or other company locations.
  • Follows up on quotations to close sales.
  • Enters orders in ERP system.
  • Works closely with warehouse personnel, purchasing, steel mills, truck lines and others to coordinate and schedule deliveries.
  • Sets up deliveries with common carriers.
  • Resolves complaints, issues and returns effectively and efficiently, escalating to Sales management as needed.
  • Issues purchase orders for "buyout" sales.
  • Overcomes objections to close sales.

Qualifications:

  • An engaging and customercentric personality is the key to success in this Account Manager role.
  • Ability to easily establish rapport and build/maintain strong relationships through excellent customer service in a demanding environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to convey information in a simple and understandable way.

  • Solid organization and prioritization skills, as well as the flexibility to quickly adapt to changing situations.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills with a high energy level.

  • Strong computer and phone skills.

Education/Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing or related field preferred.
  • Five plus years' sales and customer service experience preferred.
  • Steel service center industry experience highly desired.
