The Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts provides support to brain injury survivors and their families, offers programs to prevent brain injuries, educates the public on the risks and impact of brain injury, and advocates for legislation and improved community services.


Position Summary:
The Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts is looking for an individual with a graphic design and communications background. Duties and responsibilities will broadly support increased awareness of the organization's programs and services.

This role requires a talented individual who has an exceptional attention to detail, who has a passion for storytelling using graphics, layout, and design, and who has an interest in supporting events, fundraising, and campaign management.


Responsibilities:


  • Collaborates with departments to gather information and align communication efforts with organizational goals.
  • Researches best practices and identifies ways for the organization to improve engagement across our digital channels.
  • Assists with content and maintenance of company website.
  • Creates compelling content for various platforms, including social media, websites, newsletters, press releases, and promotional materials.
  • Utilizes design software programs to create basic designs for digital and print publications as needed.
  • Designs displays and signage for special events.
  • Supports BIA-MA team with presentation materials for events and conferences as needed.
  • Assists and supports BIA-MA event logistics.
  • Maintains online social networking tools, including Hootsuite, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • Provides communication and marketing support and materials to internal company departments.
  • Assists with writing, editing, and proofing company materials.
  • Performs a variety of skilled administrative duties related to membership activities, conferences, trainings, donor acknowledgements and organizational events.
  • Supports the Marketing & Communications team with thank you letters and pledge management activity for donor acknowledgements & organizational activities.

Qualifications/Requirements:


  • A completed undergraduate degree, preferably in a related field (e.g. Marketing, Communications, Communication Design, Graphic Design, or Journalism)
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and independently prioritize work.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook (PC).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers, copier, fax machine, telephone system and printers.
  • Ability to learn and use other software.
  • Ability to anticipate and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift to twentyfive pounds.
  • Must adhere to BIA-MA's policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a favorable working relationship with staff, volunteers, and the organizations stakeholders.
  • Weekend and evening hours are occasionally required.
  • Strong website and technology skills required (experience with Ecommerce, Form Builders, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite & Word Press preferred)


  • Graphic Design skills

  • Adobe InDesign & Canva preferred
  • Writing, editing, proofing skills
  • Project management, organizational skills, and ability to produce reports
  • Ability to multitask and work in a deadlineoriented environment
  • Professional demeanor, team player, positive attitude
  • Strong work ethic works well independently
  • Experience with HTML and CSS
  • Demonstrated experience producing and managing a wide variety of content that engages audiences
  • Outstanding written, proofreading, and copyediting skills
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt quickly to new and changing situations, usually under pressure and with deadlines
  • Print production experience
  • Able to provide at least 3 to 5 examples
