Position Summary:


Vallen's CAD Designer II is an individual contributor responsible for Computer Aided Design & Drafting (CAD/CAM/CAE) with a focus on documentation, illustration, and digital modelling, to resolve design details or discrepancies or to prepare drawings of unusual, complex or original designs which require a high degree of precision.


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Prepares and maintains detailed design drawings, schematics or specifications using CAD software.
  • Creates, modifies and controls detailed two
- and three-dimensional parts and assembly drawings from engineers' and technicians' sketches, plans and written and verbal instructions.

  • Creating digital prototypes and conducting design simulations for purposes of verifying reliability/safety and optimizing engineering processes.
  • Collaborating with product/manufacturing process engineers by recommending changes to component designs based on outcomes of digital prototyping and design simulations.
  • Provide alternative design concepts to meet customer requirements.
  • Evaluates and recommends purchase of CAD/CAErelated computer hardware and software.
  • May provide materials lists and cost estimates.
  • Create and update database of design records for future reference purposes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:


Associates degree in Engineering with 4+ years of related CAD experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that gives the individual the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job.


  • Demonstrated proficiency with Computer Aided Design & Drafting (CAD/CAM/CAE) products
  • Firm grasp of mathematics, engineering, and industry information.
  • Selfstarter with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail organizational and execution skills and accuracy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc.
  • Long periods of time working on a computer and performing repetitive keyboarding activities

  • May be required to lift up to 20 pounds
