Position Summary:

Vallen's CAD Designer II is an individual contributor responsible for Computer Aided Design & Drafting (CAD/CAM/CAE) with a focus on documentation, illustration, and digital modelling, to resolve design details or discrepancies or to prepare drawings of unusual, complex or original designs which require a high degree of precision.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepares and maintains detailed design drawings, schematics or specifications using CAD software.
Creates, modifies and controls detailed two

- and three-dimensional parts and assembly drawings from engineers' and technicians' sketches, plans and written and verbal instructions.

Creating digital prototypes and conducting design simulations for purposes of verifying reliability/safety and optimizing engineering processes.
Collaborating with product/manufacturing process engineers by recommending changes to component designs based on outcomes of digital prototyping and design simulations.
Provide alternative design concepts to meet customer requirements.
Evaluates and recommends purchase of CAD/CAErelated computer hardware and software.
May provide materials lists and cost estimates.
Create and update database of design records for future reference purposes.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

Associates degree in Engineering with 4+ years of related CAD experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that gives the individual the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job.

Demonstrated proficiency with Computer Aided Design & Drafting (CAD/CAM/CAE) products
Firm grasp of mathematics, engineering, and industry information.
Selfstarter with the ability to work independently.
Strong attention to detail organizational and execution skills and accuracy.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.

This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc.

May be required to lift up to 20 pounds
