    PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Registered Nurse /Infusion Specialist will operate an infusion clinic to administer on an outpatient basis infusion therapy and monitor and record results for physicians. This position will also coordinate services with lab and other entities participating in patients' care. This individual need to be clinically competent, deliver care to patients utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation; and effectively interacts with patient, significant others, and other health team members while maintaining standards of professional nursing. This position will also coordinate services with lab and other entities participating in patients' care.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Utilize the nursing process by demonstrating appropriate assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient's care and leading Medical Assistants and other health care team staff in meeting patient health outcomes.
    • Assess the patient; collect and document the patient's current health status and medical history. Make accurate and ongoing assessment of patient's status and respond appropriately.
    • Plan/Implement; set priorities for nursing action in a logical sequence according to patient's needs and formulate a plan of care by the appropriate selection of Nurse Practice Standards. Plan includes physiological, psychosocial, and environmental factors, patient/significant other education.
    • Evaluate perform ongoing assessment and revise plan of care based on new data and patient's condition.
    • Document accurate and ongoing assessment of patient status. Document patient care, which reflects nursing intervention, patient response to care, provided, patient needs, problems, capabilities, limitations, and progress toward goals. Documentation includes evidence of appropriate patient/significant other teaching, and the understanding of these instructions is noted in the medical record.
    • Communicate with the physician regarding patient needs, the nursing assessments, and recommendations on a daily basis, Collaborate with other health team members to ensure the patient's well-being as evidenced by staff/client feedback.
    • Teach patient/significant other appropriate health information in a timely manner and share written informational material.
    • Perform direct patient care, utilizing established procedures, policies, and standards.
    • Administer medications according to policy and procedure.
    • Administer IV's according to policy and procedure.
    • Observe and document patient's response to pertinent medications.
    • Demonstrate ability and appropriate technical skills when administering treatments and procedures in accordance with physician's orders and policy and procedure (done within a timely manner).
    • Serve as a critical member of health care team by demonstrating the ability to handle emergency situations in a prompt, precise, and professional manner.
    • Provide personal patient care to provide comfort and well-being to the patient, acknowledging physiological and psychological needs.
    • Demonstrate accurate and timely documentation according to form guidelines.
    • Accurately transcribe physician orders according to policy and procedure in addition to implementing policies and procedures within the health center to assure successful health outcomes for all patients.
    • Maintain a clean, neat, and safe environment for patient/staff and assist Practice Manager and Medical Director with addressing health center issue related to patient flow, medication refills, etc.
    • Ensure that supplies and equipment necessary for patient care are stored in an organized and efficient manner.
    • Demonstrate correct and safe technique in the use of equipment according to specific product information.
    • Follow appropriate procedure for obtaining and returning or cleaning/disposing of equipment and supplies.
    • Participate in economical utilization of supplies and ensure that equipment is maintained in a clean and safe manner.
    • Remain conscientious concerning personal hygiene and comply with specific division/unit regulations.
    • 100% attendance to mandatory skill updates yearly required.
    • Communicate all concerns to the Medical Director.
    • Must also be able to respect the culture, values and opinions of others.
    • Incumbents may be required to perform other job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Ability to orally communicate effectively with others, with or without the use of an interpreter.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in writing using the English language, with or without the use of auxiliary aids or services.
    • Ability to review, understand, and apply concepts presented in training programs, conferences, and/or professional literature.
    • Provides information on educating individuals on safer sex practices, which would include but not be limited to, exposure to explicit language, explicit printed material, and descriptions of explicit sexual activities as part of the agency's mission in the prevention and transmission of HIV disease.
    • Knowledge of Antibiotic drugs, their administration and potential sides effects.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Ability to endure short, intermittent, and/or long periods of sitting and/or standing in performance of job duties.
    • Need to travel to off-site locations and attend meetings, workshops, seminars plus travel to other Foundcare/ locations and Foundcare/ conference rooms.
    • Accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies, e.g.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
    • RN with state license required.
    • At least three years of clinical experience that includes training in infusion therapy.
    • Minimum one year of medical experience in a Community Health facility.
