Description

This position is responsible for the proper sterilization and maintenance of all instruments and equipment in accordance with MPHC and state/federal policies and procedures.

The Sterilization Technician manages all logs and documentation of instruments along with ensuring safety amongst the work force. This position requires a significant amount of independent judgement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
_


  • Follows proper sterilization procedures for all instruments & equipment.
  • Maintains proper logs and dual control for sterilized instruments that are picked up from the department.
  • Completes autoclave log each time autoclave is run with proper documentation for temperature log print outs.
  • Works with Clinical Quality team to ensure proper sterilization techniques are performed/completed.
  • Follows manufacturer directions for the loading and operation of the autoclave ensuring that packs/pouches/cassettes are loaded in a manner that allows for free steam air and circulation.
  • Maintains and documents safety and function of all equipment. Communicates and reports necessary repairs/issues to supervisor.
  • Performs and logs all daily/weekly/monthly maintenance as required per manufacturer instructions.
  • Follows proper procedure for Biological Monitoring and ensures result is on file.
  • Performs proper procedure in case of a positive biological result. Communicates all recall of instrument procedures to Manager, Operations Director, and Associate Medical Director.
  • Ability to follow manufacturer instructions for all instruments, i.e., soaking, milking, and wiping down instruments prior to autoclaving, etc.
  • Becomes familiar with work habits of all departments to promote a smooth workflow in the event of a team member absence, displaying flexibility in work assignments in all areas.
  • Ensures proper labeling of soaking and ultrasonic containers.
  • Knowledge and proper use of required PPE (including utility gloves) and proper hygiene procedures.
  • Ability to follow proper procedure for SDS documentation.
  • Attends inservices and seminars. Participates in staff meetings and maintains good technical and customer skills.
  • Strong concern for safety, following all Mountain Park Health Center (MPHC) policies/procedures.
  • Able to train others as needed or requested.
  • Able to work independently without constant supervision. Consistent, reliable inperson attendance is required. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • High school diploma or equivalent

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Sterile Technician credential
  • Monday-Friday
  • 9am6pm
