    MARMON RAIL & CRANE – AUTOMATION PROJECT ENGINEER– INNOVATION TEAM
    The Marmon Rail Innovation team

    is looking for an automation engineer to accelerate our shop automation capabilities. Bring your engineering and project management skills in product design, manufacturing, construction design, or similar. We're looking to identify blockers, build tools, and execute projects in the shop automation space. Everyone on the team is empowered and expected to make changes to improve the way we do things.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Lead 2-3 simultaneous projects

    implementing automation equipment. Own responsibility for technical project leadership. Use prior engineering knowledge or gain new knowledge to be the project technical expert.


    Use engineering knowledge to architect

    automation solutions . Work with facility production teams to process map current state and develop ideal future state.


    Spearhead

    technology research

    to deliver state-of-the-art processes and designs.


    Work across facilities with various stakeholder teams and processes.


    Set project goals, deliverables, and timelines.

    Manage the project to these goals.


    Communicate project status to management.


    Build payback models and assist in writing capital requests.


    Use existing Marmon capital equipment implementation process to guide your workflow. Update and improve Marmon processes as you learn. Contribute to the shared knowledge base. Mentor and guide others.


    Attend trade shows, vendor visits, special meetings, to become a well-rounded industry expert on current state-of-the-art technologies and implementation strategies for Marmon Rail and Crane groups.

    REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION:
    Bachelor's degree in engineering mechanical, automation, project management) or relevant on-target experience.
    5+ years of relevant work experience in industrial settings
    Comfortable in ambiguous situations where requirements may be unclear
    Comfortable in factory shop environments
    Ability to work independently AND in a team environment with lots of collaboration
    Knowledge of LEAN principles
    Excellent written and verbal communication
    Excellent organizational skills
    Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functionally
    30-50% travel, domestic
