POSITION OVERVIEW:


The Director of Development will:

lead on agency-wide resource development initiatives for La Familia and its co-branded departments; lead collaborative efforts to implement effective development-related communication strategy; and manage the agency's volunteer program.

This individual will act as a content expert in these areas for the agency.

This individual will provide technical and administrative supervision to staff and will consult on agency initiatives and special projects to increase La Familia's capacity where appropriate.

This role will uphold and champion the agency's mission, vision, and values and contribute to a collaborative and inclusive work culture.


Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:


1. Resource Development

  • Leads overall design, strategic planning, implementation, and program growth for La Familia's Community Development program.
○ Build and strengthen relationships with new and existing donors to increase their engagement with La Familia's work, help them stay connected, and encourage continued and increased donations.

○ Develop, coordinate, and implement (through individual contributions and those of assigned team members) the annual resource development plan for La Familia and any co-branded departments (for example, FESCO) to include Annual Giving (including Recurring and Online Giving), Major Giving, Legacy Giving, and Special Event

  • Fundraising, with proactive planning of:
○ Donor-facing Communications (including agency websites and content and social media)

○ Fundraising Campaigns and Appeals

○ Foundation Cultivation and Stewardship

  • Create and maintain Program Manual and related documents for consistent, quality program implementation in alignment with industry standards and ethics and all relevant laws.
  • Ensure communication and support for all "Friends of" organizations associated with La Familia and cobranded departments.
  • Oversee and support giftentry and acknowledgement processes, including dataentry into donor management software (i.e. Salesforce).
  • Designs materials (copy and graphics) for multipleaudiences, as needed
  • Participates in all parts of programming, as needed

2. Volunteer Program Management

  • Develop and ensure the coordination of the volunteer and nonclinical intern system at La Familia.
○ Maintain systems that protect the quality of services delivered by La Familia via volunteers and minimize liability for the agency.


3. Strategic Partnership Cultivation

  • Build, strengthen, formalize, and track relationships with individuals and organizations with shared interests in order to sustain and expand agency capacity, including attending standing meetings, as assigned.

4. Staff Supervision

  • Provide supervision to all assigned program staff and acts as a liaison to assigned school and community internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure staff meet assigned program activities and provide coaching and accountability around staff performance success and deficits in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate and/or coordinate quality training (at onboarding and continuously) for all necessary skills and competencies for program staff to achieve productivity and quality standards.
  • Lead and attend regular staff meetings, supervision meetings, and training.
  • Uphold and ensure direct reports follow all agency policies and procedures through providing ongoing education and reminders on agency policies and procedures and providing coaching and accountability around violations in a timely manner, with an emphasis on Quality Improvement, Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and other compliance policies and procedures as set by La Familia and the funder.
  • Coordinate and maintain adequate team staffing, including collaborating with La Familia Human Resources for recruitment, retention, performance appraisals, employee discipline, and termination.
  • Set employee schedules and approve employee timesheets, timeoff requests, and expense reimbursements.

Other:


  • Work collaboratively with other organizational leaders in support of mutually beneficia; planning around relationship development with stakeholders.
  • Support the development and submission of grants and proposals in collaboration with the CSO and grant writing staff, including working with internal stakeholders on proposal concept, narrative writing, generating and gathering proposal attachments, proposal budget development, and proposal submission.
  • Continuously improve the agency's capacity by attending trainings, monitoring trade publications, and attending relevant events and sharing and using new information.
  • Track and regularly report on key metrics within each function area.
  • Leads and collaborates on special projects related to agency objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chief Strategy Officer.
