    **Description**

    **The Salvation Army Mission Statement:**

    **Overview:**

    To supervise The Salvation Army Food Distribution Center and the various sites which support and are supported by The Salvation Army.

    **Duties:**

    Planning, development and implementation of food distribution programs.

    Prepare and submit program proposals.

    Provide representation to community groups.

    Assist other staff with development of FDC budget.

    Investigate potential resources for obtaining food, equipment and supplies necessary for Program operation.

    Formulate and implement Food Program, policies and procedures within guidelines set by service contractors and/or The Salvation Army with coordination with other staff.

    Coordinate recruitment, training and supervision of Food Distribution Program staff and volunteers.

    Responsible for all stages/phases of Program and its employees/volunteers.

    Conduct employee evaluations as required.

    Arrange and participate in Food Distribution Sites to ensure contractual compliance and equitable disbursement.

    Monitor condition of property and equipment, recommending repair or replacement as needed.

    Assure proper procedures are in place to meet OSHA safety compliance.

    Assist Kitchen Manager in food ordering as requested.

    Coordinate with community projects such as: CanTree Project, Postal Workers Annual Food Drive, Boy Scouts Collection and 58 Kids Can Program.

    Christmas seasonal duties as assigned by Corps Officers and other staff.

    In the event of an Emergency or Disaster, added responsibilities will be assigned by Corps Officers.

    Maintain familiarity with tax laws and legislation affecting donors and product liability laws.

    Maintain accurate and current data file of prospects, donors, contracts, and donor history.

    Be a liaison with government and non-profit food programs.

    Attend all staff meetings.

    Work towards the establishment and maintenance of effective and productive in-kind donor contracts. This may include:

    + Submit letters of request to perspective donors.

    + Submission of brochures, bulletins, informational flyers, and statistical updates.

    + Telephone follow-up to donors.

    + Follow-up prospect inquiries with telephone or personal contact as needed.

    Maintain familiarity with The Salvation Army and its various food programs and the ability to relate the following to either donor or prospect:

    + How the donation may be utilized with given program and the needs which will be met.

    + Additional resources required for unmet needs.

    + Present accurate statistics to support expressed needs.

    All other duties as assigned.

    **Qualifications:**

    Education and/or work experience commensurate with the duties and responsibilities required.

    Must have a CA Driver license.

    Must be able to pass a motor vehicle check.

    Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

    Knowledge of Salvation Army practices and organization desirable.

    Must have the ability to maintain a self-motivated and self-directed schedule.

    Must have the ability to address multiple projects in a time-sensitive manner.

    Ability to interact with volunteers and the public in a positive, professional manner in conformity with The Salvation Army Mission Statement.

    Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.

    Possess self-discipline necessary to perform repetitive tasks without lowering quality of work.

    **Equipment Used:**

    Standard Modern Office Equipment

    Standard Janitorial/Housekeeping Equipment

    *Standard Janitorial and Housekeeping including washer, dryer, mops, brooms, general cleaning agents, etc.*

    **Physical Requirements:**

    Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.

    Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, laundry baskets and reach overhead.

    Ability to work outdoors, if needed, in all types of weather
