Responsibilities:

The
Team Leader, Clearance will be responsible for managing and monitoring the submission mailboxes for all lines of business.

This role will be the main point of contact for the Vice Presidents and Underwriters for help with any issues that arise out of clearance.

They will also be responsible for monitoring and handling rush clearances as well as assisting in training employees on system enhancements and new processes that affect the clearance team.

This role will report to the Underwriting Services Manager.

  • Adherence and enforcement of clearance protocol.
  • Submission review, clearance and entry.
  • Requests additional information as required for incomplete submissions.
  • Responsible for file documentation.
  • Handle or delegate rush submission requests directly from Underwriters.
  • Handle or delegate requests for submission corrections timely and accurately.
  • Monitor and maintain a balanced SLA/submission counts among the various Branches and LOBs by actively reorganizing team assignments to meet the unique needs for that day.
  • Answer submission related questions from internal and external. customers while escalating to Manager when appropriate.
  • Coordinate with Manager to identify/recommend areas for improvement.
  • Report to Manager regarding team performance both positive feedback and/or areas for improvement.
  • Available to occasionally work evenings to meet business demands and support time zone differences.
  • Provides administrative support to Manager as needed for special projects or assignments.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required; College degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 35 years of commercial lines insurance experience required.
  • Prior Team Lead or Supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance industry, products, and operational environments.
  • Effective leadership qualities.
  • Exceptional communication skills to include: technical writing, presentation, and coaching.
  • Excellent problemsolving, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Proven capability to implement innovative solutions.
  • Experience working with underwriting platforms and software.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong background in Excel.
