    This role is a hybrid-optional role, allowing for up to one designated work from home day per week.

    Job Summary:

    The Director of Finance strategically implements the policies and systems needed to lead, manage, and integrate the financial accounting, inventory, and

    sheltering/supportive

    housing functions of the non-profit. This position will encompass relational leadership, strategic planning, and fiscal management.

    This individual creates and maintains all finance-related processes including accounts payable, accounts receivable, data entry, audits, cost allocations, Client Assistance Funds, and accounting.

    This individual will adhere to GAAP and non-profit financial compliance as well as the internal Fiscal Policies and Procedures.

    This individual will provide guidance to the team, while supporting the Senior Director of Finance in various projects and tasks.

    This individual will supervise the finance team.


    Duties/Responsibilities:
    Support, train, guide, and evaluate the staff in the Finance department.
    Create Budget Proposals for renewing and new projects.
    Enter annual budgets for each program into QuickBooks Online, adjusting as changes are made throughout the year.

    Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors, and share necessary changes or concerns with the Senior Director of Finance.

    Perform asset management and inventory functions and oversight.
    Perform accounts receivable duties via monthly invoice creation.

    Work with external tax advisor to file annual taxes, collaborating with the development team for accurate and appropriate language in the Form 990.

    Complete documents related to federal non-profit status.

    Provide the Director of Communications and Development with data for the organization's annual report, fundraisers, grant applications, and grant reporting.

    Negotiate contracts with various supply/service vendors, compare and shop for vendors, and maintain relationships with current vendors.

    Review, recommend, and summarize insurance coverage, including general liability, directors & officers, volunteers & accident, workers compensation insurance and other coverage necessary for adequate risk management.

    Hire and retain support staff as needed in the future.
    Hold or oversee quarterly budget meetings with program and department leaders, guiding leadership on how to avoid over/under spending.
    Monitor and respond to email inbox.
    Ensure accurate and up-to-date information (financial and inventory) in QuickBooks Online.
    Ensure appropriate expense allocations across many programs.
    Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flows for the organization

    Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices, including the internal Fiscal Policies and Procedures.
    Maintaining compliance with the contractual expectations of funders and grants.
    Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner.
    Clearly communicate monthly and year-to-date financial statements.
    Oversee all financial, project/program and grants accounting.
    Perform data entry duties as required by the needs of the organization.
    Process physical checks for vendors, payroll, and Client Assistance Funds.

    Ensure appropriate limits are provided in the various credit card budgets to fund sites, site community building, admin, technology, Client Assistance Funds, etc.

    Audit various aspects of accounts payable to ensure accuracy and avoid overpayment of expenses.
    Review and share financial reports, identifying areas for

    improvement/success,

    and communicate these findings with the

    Senior Director of Finance and/or Executive Director.

    Adhere to all financial grant requirements as communicated by the Director of Communication & Development and as stated in the grant documents.

    Identify appropriate fiscal controls to maintain and implement safeguards against intended or unintended misuse of funding.
    Analyze current systems and integrate processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
    Maintain clear and professional communication with all employees, participants, donors, board members, volunteers, union representatives, and community partners.
    Support and engage the development team at organization fundraisers, activities, and other events.

    Adhere to all state and federal privacy and security regulations applicable to the program, and to the organization's policies and agreements regarding confidentiality, privacy, and security.

    Participate in compliance, quality assurance, and quality improvement activities.
    Adhere to GAAP financial compliance as well as non-profit financial compliance.
    Perform other duties as assigned.


    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    The Director of Finance will supervise the finance department.


    Required Experience:
    At least 5 years of experience with Microsoft programs, including SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
    At least 5 years of demonstrated effective leadership, including the ability to have difficult conversations and address employee concerns.
    At least 3 years of prior non-profit work experience in a finance capacity.
    At least 3 years of QuickBooks Online

    experience, working with inventory.
    At least 3 years oin a financial supervisory or finance department leadership role.

    Required Education:

    Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, business administration, or closely related field.

    Master's degree is preferred.

    Demonstrated ability to work independently, problem solve, and multi-task.

    Demonstrated ability to manipulate data and calculate cost allocations based on payroll data.

    Additional eligibility requirements :
    Must be able to pass a random drug test (THC not included).
