How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact.

As an Assembler, you fit and assemble metal components according to assembly blueprints, manuals, engineering memos and sketches under moderate supervision.


What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, depending on the incumbent is performing, you may be required to:

  • Read and understand bill of materials
  • Position parts according to knowledge of unit being assembled or per work instructions
  • Fit, align, adjust, fasten and/or plumb parts together to ordinary tolerances
  • Use tools such as wrenches, impact guns, utility knife, drift pins, sealant tape, glue, staple gun, nail gun, sheet grinder and any other required tools/equipment safely and effectively
  • Confers with supervision, area lead, maintenance, or others to resolve assembly issues
  • Produce a completed unit capable of passing final inspection
  • Completes tasks to support ontime shipments and other logístical needs
  • Other tasks as assigned

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience

  • 1+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Read a tape measure and ruler and convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Meet all product quality requirements
  • Ability to read mechanical engineered drawings
  • Ability to use precision hand tools
  • Ability to keep a clean and safe work area
  • Ability to work extended shifts and overtime
  • Forklift operation experience/certification

Education & Certifications

  • High school diploma or GED

Travel & Working Environment

  • Onsite
  • The employee will be required to stand and walk for at least 8 hours.
  • Regularly be required to push/pull material with assistance of overhead crane.
  • Climb stairs, reach and bend regularly
  • Occasionally sit, grasp, climb, crawl, twist, and work at heights.
  • Occasionally lift, hold and/or move up to 40 pounds
  • Perform repetitive motions
  • Manufacturing environment requires use of required Personal Protective Equipment, such as foot, eye, and ear protection when in production locations
  • Potential exposure to bad weather, excessive heat, and/or excessive noise
