    Summary:

    Our client's IT department is currently leading an initiative to modernize its technology. They are replacing outdated systems and reports with new, cutting-edge solutions. We are seeking a dynamic and adaptable Data Engineer to join our Information Technology (IT) team. The ideal candidate will report to the Manager/Chief Product Owner and play a crucial role in architecting and implementing our data pipeline.

    The Ideal Candidate:

    We are looking for a candidate who is well-versed in Azure, data pipelines, data architecture, and warehousing, with a sprinkle of experience in machine learning. The perfect fit for this role is someone passionate about data and simplifying processes. They should be comfortable engaging in both conceptual debates and hands-on tasks, collaborating effectively with multiple teams.

    Principal Duties:

    • Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines, creating new API integrations to handle growing data complexity.
    • Design efficient data structures and database schemas, and work with distributed system architecture and non-relational databases.
    • Collaborate with analytics and business teams to enhance data models for improved data access and informed decision-making.
    • Implement monitoring systems to uphold data quality, ensuring accuracy for stakeholders and business operations.
    • Analyze data to troubleshoot issues and contribute to their resolution.
    • Work closely with engineers, managers, and analysts to drive data strategy and architecture.
    • Define data assets, develop data models, and design data integrations and quality frameworks.
    • Evaluate tools for data lineage and contribute to long-term data platform strategy.
    • Collaborate with various teams to ensure alignment on data platform architecture.
    • Additional responsibilities as delegated.

    Requirements:

    Education – Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or relevant field.

    • 5+ years experience with BI reporting tools like Power BI or Tableau.
    • 3+ years experience in data modeling, distributed systems, SQL, Python, and integration technologies.
    • Experience with data warehouse planning and implementation.
    • Hands-on experience in Azure services such as Data Factory, DataBricks, Azure Storage, and more.
    • Effective interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
    • Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work in agile environments.

    Bonus Skills:

    • Azure Data Engineering, Azure DBA, or related certifications.
    • Understanding of Domain Driven Design and data standards in financial or education domains.
    • Knowledge of Data Privacy, Governance, and Cataloguing principles.
    • Familiarity with Machine Learning best practices.
