OUR MISSION:

The Training Specialist provides resources and support to adult volunteers who deliver the program to girls.

She/he strengthens the quality of the Girl Scout program through interpretation of Girl Scout program philosophy and the council's policies, procedures, and standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Assess, design, develop and deploy training, networking and development programs for the organization which build organizational capabilities in alignment with the strategic plan.
  • Keep up to date on GSUSA trainings that will need to be assigned to volunteers through an online platform.
  • Assist volunteers, add training modules and pull reports using an online platform.
  • Provide recommendations for cost effective developmental tools utilizing both internal and external resources as appropriate.
  • Develop a formal infrastructure for all training and development programs by establishing standardized methods and procedures for delivery, evaluation, measurement and reporting.
  • Manage scheduling, training and tracking processes to monitor report and manage training and development activities. Implement a yearround learning program to meet the needs of all volunteers.
  • Research, keep abreast of and bring best practices related to training and development to the Council.
  • Ensure legal compliance of the Council's training and development practices.
  • Work collaboratively and cooperatively with other staff members to design and carry out training curriculum such as the cookie program, delegate training, online learning, etc.
  • Select appropriate instructional developmental methods such as computerbased training, individual training, group instruction, selfstudy, lectures, demonstrations, simulation exercises, coaching, mentoring, training guides, and role play. Promote external training and learning opportunities for volunteers.
  • Ensure volunteers have the necessary tools, resources, and support required to accomplish position assignments to become fully engaged as Girl Scout volunteers.
  • Organize and develop training manuals, reference library materials, evaluation procedures, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials based on GSUSA recommendations and stateofart thinking on adult learning and development.
  • Recruit and train selected staff and volunteer instructors in effective content and techniques for training and developing volunteers.
  • Update service team job descriptions, offer yearly service team training, and train staff on service team positions/functions.
  • Identify training opportunities for council trainers, update trainer files, and handle notification of all training group meetings.
  • Edit policy books for volunteers and assist in their rollout to the volunteers.
  • Update training attendance and awards in volunteer database and files.
  • Perform other duties as may be required.

Requirements:


  • Minimum three years' experience in training, sales, marketing, education, community organization or related fields.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience in organizational marketing, management, or youth program development and delivery.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and computer systems.
  • Access to reliable internet access.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • A valid California Driver's License and proof of Vehicle Insurance Coverage.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) preferred.
