Summary


The Groundskeeper is responsible for routine skilled and unskilled maintenance of interior and exterior buildings and grounds, including the operation of motorized vehicles.

The position reports to the Lead Groundskeeper.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Trimming, edging, and mowing lawn areas.
  • Lawn area grading/sod installation.
  • Pruning, planting, and staking trees and plants.
  • Installing granite, including detail around plants.
  • Maintenance of all landscape equipment including mowers, tractor, carts, and other power equipment.
  • Operating a variety of powered and nonpowered equipment to include trimmers, trucks, riding/walkbehind mowers, pole pruner, push spreaders, chainsaw, utility carts, and ladder.
  • Irrigation repairs/adjustments of sprinkler heads, lateral lines, and valves.
  • Exterior housekeeping sweeping, trash removal, and cleaning and painting fences, curbs, hydrants and handrails as needed.
  • Event setup and takedown as needed.
  • Cleaning exterior signs as needed.
  • Minor driveway/parking lot surface repairs as needed.
  • Assisting other building maintenance specialists in performing various tasks as needed.
  • Complying with University safety policy at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Overtime will be required as needed

Education and/or Experience


High School diploma or equivalent; must possess and maintain a current State of Arizona driver's license; at least 1 year of landscape maintenance required with knowledge of pruning, mowing, edging, and planting - irrigation knowledge a plus; able to communicate in English.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
