    CLASSIFICATION:
    Mental Health Therapist IV





    PAY GRADE:
    $64, $80,701.57 Annually




    $6,000 Recruitment Bonus for Clinical Master level new hires ($2,000 paid at start, $2,000 paid after 3 months, and $2,000 paid after successful probation period.)

    GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:


    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Under the general supervision of the Mental Health Supervisor (State Facility & Forensic Intensive Case Management) and/or (Community Support Services), provides case management services to a small number of adults with mental illness and/or co-occurring disorders working towards recovery.

    Also actively participates in the development and implementation of evidence based practices. Provides clinical support to the Community Support Services (CSS) team. Will be the lead clinician for multiple evidence based practice groups.

    This position will be knowledgeable about and actively support culturally competent recovery based practices; person centered planning as a shared decision making process with the individual, who defines his/her life goals and is assisted in developing a unique path toward those goals; and a trauma informed culture of safety to aid consumer in the recovery process.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:


    • Provides clinical support and consultation to the CSS team providing services to adults with mental illness and/or co-occurring disorders working toward recovery.
    • Will work closely with the CSS Supervisor to support the development and implementation of evidence based practices.
    • Will be the lead clinician for multiple evidence base practice groups.
    • Will provide case management services to a small case load of individuals with mental illness and/or co-occurring disorders working toward recovery.
    • Works closely with the Peer Support Specialists on the team to assure consumers have access to these services to support their journey toward recovery.
    • Will utilize person centered planning principles to assist the consumer in the development of a treatment plan that supports the consumers dreams/desires and recovery.
    • Responsible for thorough documentation of the person centered plan and individual outcomes assuring that the documentation supports the medical necessity for services requested.
    • Responsible for seeking authorization for all services in a timely manner.
    • May prepare court order reports and testify in court proceedings as required.
    • Links consumers to needed services.
    • Monitors services in a variety of settings (home, work, community) with a minimal amount of case management services occurring in the office setting.
    • Works closely with the psychiatrist on the team to keep the psychiatrist updated on the individuals response to medication.
    • When a person resides in a residential setting, assures the treatment plan addresses the services to be provided by the home and that staff are inserviced on the plan.
    • Adheres to the mission, vision, core values and operating principles of SCCMHA at all times.

    INCIDENTAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:


    • May address community groups or organizations.
    • May attend quality assurance meetings, case consultation meetings and staff meetings.
    • Attends in-service training, seminars, conferences, and workshops in order to sustain professional competency.
    • Reacts productively to change and handles other essential tasks as assigned.
    • Reports in a timely and accurate manner all services provided.

    WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT:

    Works in clinic setting and provides counseling to mentally ill/developmentally disabled/chemically dependent individuals. Close contact with consumers who may have a communicable disease, and who may be hostile, aggressive, and/or potentially violent. Works at computer intermittently throughout the workday. May be require travel to multiple locations, sometimes in bad weather.


    QUALIFICATIONS:


    Education:
    Master's degree in a mental health related field from an accredited school.

    Experience:

    A minimum of three (3) years relevant professional clinical experience, in mental health treatment programs, serving adults with serious mental illness.



    Licenses and Certifications:
    Valid Michigan Driver's license with a good driving record.

    A limited licensed master's social worker (LLMSW), licensed master's social worker (LMSW), limited licensed professional counselor (LLPC), licensed professional counselor (LPC), limited licensed marriage and family therapist (LLMFT), licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT), limited licensed psychologist (LLP) and licensed psychologist (LP).

    Must have or be able to obtain a certification in substance abuse treatment specialist area.


    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


    • Knowledge of mental illness, developmental disabilities, chemical dependency.
    • Competency in diverse treatment techniques.
    • Ability to function independently and to communicate effectively in both verbal and written format.
    • Ability to work in crisis situations with considerable stress.
    • Ability to understand individuals from all social, economic and cultural backgrounds.
    • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word and Excel and computer keyboard skills.

    Physical/Mental Requirements:


    • Hearing acuity to converse in person and on telephone.
    • Visual Acuity to observe consumers behavior, read and proofread documents and use CRT.
    • Ability to walk, stand or sit for extended periods of time.
    • Manual dexterity to write and to operate standard office equipment (PC, Keyboard, Copy Machine, Fax Machine, etc.)
    • Ability to lift and carry files and supplies at least 20 pounds.
    • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with leadership, employees, consumers and the general public.
    • Analytical skills necessary to conduct research, analyze, and interpret complex data and identify and solve problems by proposing courses of action.
    • Ability to plan short and long range and to manage and schedule time.
    • Ability to handle stress in meeting deadlines and dealing with large numbers of employees and/or consumers.
