Position Summary
Provide direct student support related to educating the campus about diversity and inclusion and also support underrepresented students on campus.
This full-time, full-year professional position develops, plans, schedules, facilitates, promotes, and evaluates educational programming related to multicultural life, diversity, equity, inclusion, social justice, access, retention, cultural awareness, and community building.
Major ResponsibilitiesPlan, schedule, assess and facilitate student, faculty and staff programs and workshops in support of the mission of fostering a community of learners who contribute to an environment of inclusive and academic excellence based on the values of human difference and individual contribution
Work collaboratively with Residence Life and Housing professional and student staff to plan, create and facilitate programming in the residence halls, take the lead on coordinating and facilitating resident assistant training, and advise Residence Life and Housing staff on diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice related matters in the residence halls
Co-chair the planning committee for the Annual Student Conference on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice with student co-chair
Support office with its public relations and promotion of programs and resources
Help facilitate COR 101 presentations and ally development workshops with other MLDO staff and volunteers
Attend and support student programming including but not limited to evening and weekend programs such as the Voice Office events, late night events, Diversity Conference, trips, meetings and events hosted by student organizations
Assist with measuring the effectiveness of strategic initiatives within Student Affairs, such as co-curricular learning and student engagement. Projects vary from year to year and will include assisting with the assessment of direct student learning outcomes of MLDO programming
Functional and Supervisory Relationships
This position reports directly to the Director of Multicultural Life and Diversity Office (MLDO) and is expected to collaborate broadly across the institution with other offices, departments, and student groups.
Within the MLDO, specific staff will take lead on projects but will work collaboratively to support one another in all that the office does.
Required QualificationsBachelor's degree required by the time of appointment
Experience working with and supporting underrepresented student populations
Experience in program development and facilitation
Preferred Qualifications
Master's in student affairs, cultural studies or other closely related field
Experience working in higher education and student development
Experience doing assessment of direct student learning outcomes and program evaluation
Experience in grant writing, budgeting, recruiting, coaching, advising, conflict resolution, or mediation
Conversational fluency in a language other than English
