Position Summary:


Responsibilities:


  • Provide animals with food, water, enrichment, and other essential daily needs
  • Help animals find new homes via our sameday adoption process
  • Commit to a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental approach with all clients, callers, and coworkers
  • Maintain clean animal housing following our highstandard cleaning guidelines
  • Welcome new arrivals via owner surrenders, stray intake, transfers from other organizations, and endoflife services
  • Administer medical treatments under the direction of a veterinarian
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records in our animal management software
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Availability to work some evenings, a weekend shift, and a rotating holiday
  • Must be able to routinely carry 25lbs and up to 50lbs

  • Prior animal care experience is a plus

  • The _Wisconsin Humane Society_ (WHS) is the oldest and largest shelter in Wisconsin. It was founded in 1879 and operates shelters in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Door, Brown, and Kenosha Counties, as well as a Spay/Neuter Clinic in West Allis. The organization offers adoption services, youth programming, and veterinary resources for animals from lowincome households, retail stores, volunteer programs and dog training classes. The Milwaukee shelter also houses the state's busiest Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.
