Job Summary:


The Illinois Network Management team develops provider networks and reimbursement models, contracts with facilities and physicians across the state, operationalizes a variety of financial methods and payment models, with an emphasis on earned payments for quality and cost outcomes for BCBSIL members, and protects balances due to BCBSIL that these models generate.

As a member of the Facility Contract Modeling and Reconciliation Team, this position is responsible for working with large medical claims data sets to analyze and report on compliance with facility contract provisions

In addition, this position is responsible for:

Improving health care operations by identifying business process re-engineering opportunities, conducting research studies, and developing solutions.

Investigating key business problems through quantitative analyses of utilization and healthcare cost data.

Working with complex, raw healthcare claims data.

Recognizing data patterns and potential issues and making recommendations.

Creating reports, insights, and analytics in support of the division.

Creating specifications for reports and analysis based on business needs.

Possibly providing consultation to users and working on cross functional teams to address the divisions issues.

Producing datasets and reports for analysis using system reporting tools.

Possibly performing research and assisting in analyzing data related to the division's strategic initiatives and broader research needs.

Interfacing between the business and divisional data teams to generate tools to be leveraged in building analysis and reports which are actionable within the business environment.

Working closely with customers to build relationships; and continuously gaining a deeper understanding of the data in order to meet business needs.

Analyzing complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources to provide insight to decision-makers.

Data extraction, aggregation, and quality checking; identifying and interpreting trends and patterns in datasets to locate influences and root cause analysis.

requires three days per week visibility in the posted HCSC office(s).


JOB REQUIREMENTS:


Bachelor's degree OR Two (2) years' experience in data analysis and information reporting data.

Build knowledge of division, business processes and customers.

Assist in solving a range of problems.

Assist with possible solutions using standard procedures to solve routine or basic problems.

Assist in producing data sets and reports for analysis using SQL, Excel, or other reporting tools.

Verify accuracy of reports and provide insights with guidance.

Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products or services.

Learn needed skills by performing assigned work.

PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS:


Two (2) years' experience performing data analytics and reporting, preferably in healthcare.

Experience with object-oriented programming (SAS).

Health Care, Managed Care, or Health Care Consulting experience.

Degree in Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, IT, Computer Science, Health Informatics or Predictive Analytics

Experience in health care analytics and working with large data sets, especially claims.

Experience working in a team environment and demonstrated flexibility to take on multiple projects.

Interpersonal, presentation and written/verbal communication skills (including ability to express complex concepts in a clear and concise manner).

Understanding of provider contract reimbursement methodologies.

Two (2) years' experience with relational database management systems (SQL, DB2, Access).

Experience assessing technical challenges, programming solutions, and solving complex problems.

Experience importing and manipulating large data sets from multiple sources/environments.
